Trump has not conceded. He is not bending a knee to the Deep State. He will not lie to the American people. He will not "betray the office" (h/t Bill Barr) of the presidency by attending a hoax inauguration:
To all of those who have asked, I will not be going to the Inauguration on January 20th.
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 8, 2021
Also a hat tip to commenter Cassander who provided a link to the must read article--an articulate rant--by Jason Whitlock:
Ignoring the concerns of Trump supporters will destroy America
Whitlock's piece is long and difficult to summarize beyond what you can tell from the title. However, here's a teaser excerpt:
The critics say President Trump provoked Wednesday's political "violence." His refusal to concede a corrupt election baited his followers to overrun the Capitol with flags, ...
Fine. Guilty as charged.
...
The people wagging their fingers the hardest at Trump and the Deplorables sanctioned, financed, and promoted political violence throughout all of 2020 and for much of the past decade.
...
The Capitol is where global elites exchange cash for influence and privilege. It's where $150,000-a-year politicians become multimillionaires building cozy relationships with Big Tech lobbyists and American corporations looking to curry favor with China.
The Capitol is sacred ground for elites. The way you might revere a church edifice is the way millionaires and billionaires revere the Capitol.
Yep. Sacred space. Whitlock gets it. And 74 million other Americans get it, too.
"The simple step of a courageous individual is not to take part in the lie."

Thanks to Cassannder and Mark for the link to Jason Whitlock's piece. One quibble with the reference to Newtons's 3rd Law. The events of the 6th were in no way "an equal and opposite reaction." They were perhaps the first detectable negative acceleration in response to the events of the summer of 2020. When the reaction approaches equivalence there will not be many remaining ambulatory Antifa / BLM folks left.
ReplyDeleteThank you Mr. President for giving us hope and a clear message of resistance. These have been very dark days but this act confirms your leadership and personal integrity. You have been and are a great President, but more than that you have been a great leader and voice for this country's people. President Trump, you have been our General George S. Patton! Keep up the fight, lead us, and we will follow and - ultimately - prevail. Neil in SD.
ReplyDeleteI've been bummed about by the events of the past few days, but I'm over it now - now I'm just angry, as politically angry as I've ever been. And, I know to some it seems futile, but it is time to fight for our country - on many levels and using all the tactics at our disposal. I pray Donald Trump stays involved because we need a leader with the resources and perspective to coordinate our efforts efficiently and effectively. L'audace, l'audace, toujours l'audace!

Sacred space? Seriously? No one has defiled it more than the Democrats...
ReplyDeleteIn retrospect of a couple of days, I now realize the protesters in D.C. should have burned the place to the ground. How much more could the media have slandered and libeled them?
ReplyDeleteI am also as ANGRY and disillusioned about our leaders as I have ever been. "Sister Strangelove" Pelosi wants another impeachment? She now tries to block Trump's Commander in Chief rights? Is this not TREASON? Why is she not being impeached? Please, can we all go raid the Capital?
ReplyDeleteWe should stop referring to it as an inauguration. Harris/Biden is our first installed regime. Henceforth they should be called just Installation # __. Easier to keep them in sequence as timing becomes more irregular depending how rapidly rival factions can overthrow each other. Their names won't matter as the Presidency devolves into a mere rubberstamp legitimizing what ever enterprise the controlling faction takes an interest in.

mark , Am I right to say , that it looks like there are alot of pissed off people now reading your post? Are there any true polls out there to show the anger of half the country? Will the media be able to tamp down the anger, and will the fbi arresting all those who entered the peoples house, scare off the the angry people? Or will this just be the beginning of a 3rd political party? If so what would that party look like?
ReplyDeleteI've seen some polling referenced that indicates people in general are nowhere near as worked up as the usual suspects are, but how accurate that polling is I couldn't say.
DeletePer Rasmussen Trump’s favorably rating is actually up since the capital protest:

LOL! This will drive them ... nutser!
DeleteThe third party must be the Phoenix Party because it will rise from the ashes after they burn it down
Deletehmmm...there is a recent tradition of a POTUS leaving a letter behind for his successor in the Presidential desk - began with Bush 41, I believe. Will our VSG do likewise? And, if so, what should it say? Perhaps there should be a contest amongst Trump supporters for the proper, ahem, verbiage for such an occasion?
ReplyDeleteMe,I'm leaning towards a simple 2 word message with a picture of Mickey Mouse letting old Joe he's number one in my book...but, hey, what do I know?
Hotlanta - "Enjoy it while it lasts."
DeleteOr how many Trump supporters are afraid to their opinion.
ReplyDelete>how accurate that polling is I couldn't say.
Early American settlers and explorers learned very early on that standing in a line while shooting our enemies who were also standing in a line shooting at us was a bad plan.

ReplyDeleteThe Obsolete Man (BEST)
That episode of The Twilight Zone was broadcast on June 2, 1961. Sixty years later, what was once a feared outcome feels like it's about to become reality.
We're not obsolete librarians, but our belief in nationalism, patriotism, belief in God, Western Civilization and American exceptionalism, it's in the docket now.
Deja Vu?
ReplyDeleteTea Party
McCarthyism
John Birch
Goldwater
Nixon
All were cast out by portraying them, rightly or wrongly, as beyond the pale.
Trump has been no accused of:
- Paying hush money
- racism - Charlottesville
- anti Semitic
- Russian Stooge
- whatever Ukraine was
- dictator for defending federal buildings
And now Trump has been accused of Insurrection
The problem is not Trump or populism. The problem is the GOP.
ReplyDeleteThe Tea Party was an organic grass roots conservative movement that libertarians could get behind. The protests were bucolic, serene, and civil.
Mitch McConnell publicly pledged to crush them. He did and those that he could not like Paul Ryan, he corrupted.
Dick Armey long ago stated that the GOP failed the Tea Party and it’s supporters. Thing is, Armey was right and wrong. Armey believed that if you tempered the Tea Party, it would be acceptable to the GOP. Problem was that there was no reason to temper or attenuate it.
That’s where the Democrats are superior. They bring in the radicals to the fold, protect them, support them, and elevate them.
Republicans kill them off.
Now, after 4 years, Lindsey Graham "vows to strip section 230 protections"
ReplyDeleteDoes he think there's any chance he'll ever be re-elected?
Hope to God not.

Did Lindsey say “stay tuned”…?
DeleteLyndsay Graham got re-elected in 2020.
DeleteSection 230 has as much chance of being repealed as Obamacare. The promises are just red meat to the deplorable to get them to shut up, and keep the fund raising going. And perhaps to make us forget about his comment demonstrators should be shot. He allowed the blue slip to be used so blue state federal district judges would not be confirmed.
Graham told reporters. "Lethal force should have been used. ...

Did Lindsay Graham ever get to the bottom of wrongdoing in the Crossfire Hurricane investigation so that it could never happen again?
DeleteRemember how I used to say that Graham was undoubtedly coordinating his investigative activity with Bluto Barr? Little did I know ...

What Tucker is missing is how the Democrats have reacted to Trump by tripling down on the racist angle. Trumps inroads with minority must terrify them.
