Merry Christmas!

Even as the assault on what little remains of our republican constitutional order continues apace (ht/t emailer Jim):

Donald Trump executive order banning diversity training blocked by federal judge

A federal judge has blocked Donald Trump's executive order restricting the federal government and its contractors from offering diversity training that the president labeled "divisive" and "un-American."

U.S. District Judge Beth Labson Freeman granted a preliminary nationwide injunction in the lawsuit filed by LGBT rights groups in November in the Northern District of California, saying the groups were likely to prevail on their First Amendment claims.

I extend the traditional greeting with the prayer that, just as the seeming demise of our constitutional order has been revealed, so too this season of hope may reveal to us a rebirth of the hope on which our order was founded.

  2. It is obvious now one of our greatest problems is the poison that has seeped into our judicial system. The courts are the backstop against societal madness--but now they cheer-lead it.

    1. Dittos to devilman's words here.
I'll bet ranch, that these agencies and contractors never considered allowing alternative views (on what sort of "training" should be presented).

  5. May the blessings of Christmas lighten all of your hearts in these dark times. Rejoice today and tomorrow we get back to work, fighting to save our republic or mourning its imminent demise. Thank you, Mark and those who comment here.

  6. Just read a NetFlix review over at Breitbart of a mini-series about Richard Jewell. The thought came to me that Trump should posthumously award Richard Jewell the Presidential Medal of Freedom. Not only for his life-saving efforts concerning the Olympic bombings, but enduring the officious persecution that followed. Great message to the FBI and DoJ.

Repeated from a comment last week:

God grant all here a Merry Christmas, especially Mark who has borne the burden of our sarcasm, snark, pomposity, and just plain ignorance with patience and magnanimity while illuminating and explaining the pernicious mechanizations of our Master's lick-spittles, the DS. All hold to the truth that we will meet in a better place and time.

"Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men." Even godless commies, for the day's sake.

  7. Obama Judge.

And the supposedly GOP senate allowed the blue slip to be used to block Trump getting confirmation of judges in Blue States at the district level, such as CA.

If Biden is the next President, how many bets his administration would not defend against the lawsuit. Just as Ca Government did not defend against the proposition on Gay marriage the voters passed.

Thanks Mark for taking the time to host this blog!

    Merry Christmas!

  10. Merry Christmas, Mark and all… One of this year’s gifts was my finding your blog and your merry band of commenters. I am grateful to all of you for the links, commentary, and mental stimulation you have provided. May 2021 be a much better year than the one I saw lampooned in a photo of a big loop of barbed wire captioned “Hula Hoop 2020”. Cheers and stay well…

$20 sez we discover tomorrow that white nationalist, skin-head, bitter clinging, Trumpites are behind this and our DS alphabet will move aggressively protect Democracy from an active, wide-spread, possibly "sprawling", right-wing extremist insurgency. They are not going to wait for 1-20.

    1. Certainly not over, according to Rudy, see

Giuliani: Election fraud evidence 'going to blow up' after Christmas, become clear 'all at once'
"It's gonna be very shocking to the country," the president's attorney claimed on his podcast on Christmas Day....

    2. I was rather encouraged by that. Rudy doesn't tend to make inflated claims. Interestingly, after Antrim County's audit he's now saying things similar to Powell about a 2-5% bias for Biden for much of the country. That's at the same time that we're being told of friction between the two.

    3. Yeah, Mark, Rudy doesn't tend to make inflated claims, that's why, once he was on board on this whole effort, I was cautiously optimistic.

    4. I listened to the entire episode while doing some chores, and I did not find RG’s comments as promising as the headlines make them appear. If I understood him correctly, he was saying that most people who get their news from mainstream sources have no idea there are legitimate fraud issues. He did not, as far as I could make out, promise future revelations that would shock those of us who have been following the post-election shenanigans. Toward the end he seemed to be pleading with state officials to release the voting machines for a forensic analysis.
None of this struck me as hinting at new revelations.
I wonder what Mark made of Rudy’s forays into theology.
In all, I hope Trump has some new and persuasive line of attack, but I didn’t hear it in this episode.
