Briefly Noted: Signs That We May Be Passing Peak Trans?

Will the UK lead the way? Will our craven SCOTUS justices follow fashion?

What could be a significant ruling from the UK High Court has shaken the media driven consensus--Transgender tyranny is getting chaotic, like the French Revolution:

December 15, 2020 (LifeSiteNews) — The debate about transgender persons has been transformed in the U.K. by a ruling of the High Court that children of 13 or less are very unlikely to be capable to giving consent to “puberty-blocker” drugs, and consent from older children is also fraught with difficulty. ...

Since the ruling, the consensus that puberty-blockers are “safe, reversible, and medically necessary” has vanished like snow on the desert. The U.K.’s National Health Service, and also the BBC, has systematically removed links to the radical transgender-affirming charity Mermaids, which represents the view condemned by the High Court. The two entities have also edited out the suggestion that the extremely powerful drugs used to prevent puberty taking place can be reversed; as a matter of fact, the scant research done on the subject suggests the opposite. ...

The reversal of opinion on the Left has been remarkable--perhaps because what we would consider Left dominates legal opinion in the UK:

More fundamentally, though, the NHS has been removing descriptions of “gender” in terms of crude stereotypes and claims that people can change sex. I have discussed the question of stereotypes and the attempt to destroy the concept of biological sex on LifeSite here.

In a parallel move, the left-wing weekly newspaper The Observer, the sister title to The Guardian whose staff forced the resignation of “gender critical” feminist Suzanne Moore only a few weeks ago, published an editorial welcoming the Bell judgement, saying: “It will ensure that children will now receive the protection to which they are legally entitled.” Protection from what? From doctors and their allies in the worlds of education and social work, who have been pushing some of the most vulnerable people in society down a pathway to treatment which takes years of their lives away from normal emotional and physical development and leads to irreversible infertility.

And I like this:

As the list of victims grows ever longer, and the ideological contortions necessary to prove oneself part on the virtuous elite ever more demanding, ordinary people swept along by this ideology have started to look for a way out. This is what happens in a “purity spiral”: these things have a limited lifespan. After a while, given half a chance, a lot of people long to turn around and attack their erstwhile leaders.

Hopefully this trend will spread. Transatlanticly.

  1. What's sad is John Hopkins figured all of this out in the late 1990s.

    Transgenderisum is a mental disorder.

I FEEL therefore I think vs pesky science'ncy stuff.

Now maybe they will start treating them with actual compassion and the correct medications. (for the mind)

  2. Would it be asking too much if transgenders had transgender only athletic events?

Hell I respect her, I may not always agree with her but she has a bigger pair than Turtle and Lyin put together.

    4. Well, she is demonstrably the last sane Democrat on planet Earth, so there's that.

    5. She's still a commie. Unless she had a change of heart recently.

    6. Well, after reading a fair amount about Hawaiian politics from the 40's through the 90's I would say being an old school commie would put her well to the right of center in Hawaii; but that being said, she doesn't appear to be bat-sh-t crazy like 99% of the mainland Democrat Party.

    7. I’ve spent a fair amount of time in Hawaii on business. Honolulu and the Big Island. I’d have to agree with Anon-Tom S.

There are some real weirdos and they all have votes. I believe rabid Japanese immigrant Maisie Hirono - the senator - is still fighting WWII - against us, from the other side.

  3. Finally, but not nearly soon enough, though I am also a bit surprised. When people have lost their mind, it is surprising when they find it again.

The culture has been taken over by the mob, and mob tactics: shouting down speakers, labeling others as toxic, constant name-calling, and canceling people and causes. A full-frontal ignorance--the opposite of a thoughtful, inquiring, contemplative and intelligent culture.

For nearly two generations ("the personal is the political")*, primary and secondary schools (without mentioning higher ed) have inculcated students with the idea that advocacy, protest, marches, and other activism is the way to advance your political partisan agenda--if only to make others so miserable, they concede your demands out of exhaustion. The "squeaky wheel gets the grease" school of attention-seeking demands.

*The phrase was popularized by the publication of a 1969 essay by feminist Carol Hanisch under the title "The Personal is Political" in 1970.
