Two Great Tweets: Covid And Childcare

These are two tweets this morning from Margot Cleveland that I really liked. I had been reading Will Chamberlain criticizing Trump's tweets and handling of Covid and, to my way of thinking, Margot strikes a reasonable balance that I think will end up reflecting overall public opinion. The second tweet speaks to economic, political, and philosophical Wrong Think in America:

  1. As far as Dr. Birx comment: Is it possible that the upswing in the virus in the past 2 months across all states may be associated with families 1) taking vacations a.k.a. spending time with families elsewhere and 2) getting out of there basements or homes and actually doing things outside as the weather is pleasant enough to do things? I believe it is both, 4th of July celebrations, family trips to summer climates in the south, New Yorkers trolling to their summer homes in Floriday etc.. well guess what, of course you'll then see more residents in other states and upswings as people move about the country. Come October thru next May you'll see a downturn in the numbers as the cold weather sets in and people stay indoors. As Margot suggests thought, let's just deal w/it. That's how I see it anyways.

  2. "Dr. Birx warns of a 'new phase' in coronavirus as Americans start to move around the country"

Hey Doc, how about if we attack law enforcement, loot, burn, set up autonomous zones and shake-down businesses while we move around? I hear that makes one immune to it. I'll wait while you and Falsi confer.

    1. Don't forget attending funerals of famous politicians. You get automatic immunity when you attend - ask the mayor of DC... But remember, only ten people are allowed to attend a funeral for a nobody in DC. I wonder what the mayor would do should Jimmy Carter pass away during this virus period with burial in Arlington National Cemetery, should he choose that location as his final resting place? Something tells me the caissons would be rolling. Democrat hypocrisy has no limit and shame only works on republicans...

  3. We've built a very complex society that most people cannot fathom to understand. That someone chooses to spend $65,000 on day care for their own child, and thinks of it as a dilemma for govt to attend to, is a long way from understanding that all of life consists of trade-offs regarding personal preferences, not fiscal imperatives that the rest of us must shell out for.

    1. And of course no clue as to the huge ramifications of government "doing something" about this.

    2. The Left looks first and only to the government. Contrast that with the America de Tocqueville observed.
