A group of lions is called a "pride." A group of crows is called a "murder." A group of geese is called a "gaggle." So what do you call a group of Ambassadors? A pomposity.
After detailing his personal experiences in that regard, he expresses confidence that Marie Yovanovitch will live up to the norms for a member of the "pomposity."
From what I have seen of tomorrow's witness, Marie Yovanovitch, an FSO, is the same kind of person ...
Jordan Schachtel confirms that for us:
In back and forth with GOP counsel, Yovanovitch ties her personal ambassador rank to US national security interests, essentially saying that she was so important to US policy that firing her would damage America itself. Her perceived level of self-importance is truly astounding.— Jordan Schachtel (@JordanSchachtel) November 15, 2019
During her opening statement today, Marie Yovanovitch, who never served in the military or in combat, compared herself to two Navy SEAL veterans who were killed defending a Benghazi outposts whose security requests were rejected by bureaucrats like her. Disgusting.— Sean Davis (@seanmdav) November 15, 2019
I remember well the first House Oversight Committee hearing on Benghazi in which we were treated to Mr. Pomposity himself, Patrick Kennedy (then Hillary’s #2 at State) and the insufferable civil “servant” Charlene Lamb, the person who held the purse string authority for the financing of all of the United States embassies and consulates, worldwide. She admitted without a blink of an eye that she didn’t believe Benghazi needed any more security. We know how that turned out.
ReplyDeleteThey live in another world where Kennedy was held in thrall by the Seventh Floor (Hillary’s office was there) and a mindless functionary like Lamb can deny an obvious need for increased security, even after an Ambassador requested it...
It's what you get with career civil service, I guess.
ReplyDeleteI had read that Yovanovitch had advised Ukraine to not pay attention to the Trump admin, that they would only be there for a short while, and that she had even said (or written a letter) that certain people should not be prosecuted.
ReplyDeleteI was waiting for the R's to ask her about that. I wonder why they did not. Is that not done, to cause someone to lose face so openly?
I'm not sure I've read that about her. I know I read that about Vindman, and that he was questioned about that.

She also "Yovanovitch reportedly ordered monitoring keyed to the following search terms: Biden, Giuliani, Soros and Yovanovitch"

She also lied when she said she was never informed about the Biden-Burisma situation, as Rep Stefanik brought out. And yet was not challenged as to why she lied.

Just can't understand why they don't question her on these facts, so everyone watching can see.
