Have Dems Been Reading The Polls?

I'll bet they have been, and that would explain the almost palpable sense of desperation among the few Dem politicos who are in touch with reality.

I'm lifting this from Steve Hayward at Powerline, who lifted it from the Harvard-Harris poll (I think that's run by former Clintonista Mark Penn)--What Americans Think.

Considering the amount of time and energy that the Establishment has expended in attempting to convince the public that Election 2020 was fair and square, this first question has to be, to put it mildly, disquieting for all involved in that effort. It's a measure of how little influence they exercise. The rest of the questions and responses illustrate the same divide or disconnect between the would be opinion makers and their target--the American public. Americans, by and large, recognize Antifa, BLM, the January 6 Event, PC generally and cancel culture specificially, for what they are. Leftist control mechanisms. Oh, and the consensus on illegals entering the US remains Trumpian to a jaw dropping extent:

“Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: The 2020 election was unfair because big tech companies, Hollywood, big corporations, and the media worked together to hold back information from voters and change the rules against Donald Trump, or were their actions fair?”

Agree: 49%; Disagree: 51%

“Which do you find more concerning—the violence that occurred in American cities over the summer of 2020, or the incident at the U.S. Capitol on January 6?”

Violence in American cities: 55%; Incident at the Capitol on Jan. 6: 45%.

“Do you think the perpetrators of violence in American cities over the summer are being looked for and prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law?” Yes: 48%; No: 52%.

“Do you think Antifa is a domestic terrorist group or not a domestic terrorist group?”

Terrorist group: 71%; Not a terrorist group: 29%.

“Do you think that the events at the U.S. Capitol are being used by politicians to suppress legitimate political movements or do you think there is no such suppression of legitimate movements?

Being used to suppress legitimate movements: 64%; Not being used to suppress: 36%

“Do you think the riots are being used as an excuse to silence political voices on the right or is the reaction to them a legitimate response to the violence?”

Being used to silence the right: 59%; Legitimate response, 41%.

“Do you think that coming into the United States without any documentation should be a crime or not a crime?”

Crime: 65%; Not a crime, 35%.

“Do you think that any holes in the border wall with Mexico should be patched, or should be left open?”

Patched: 73%; Left open, 27%.

“Should the hundreds of miles of border wall that have been constructed over the last few years be left in place or dismantled?”

Left in place: 79%; Dismantled, 21%. Score one for Trump.

“Do you think Amazon should be able to ban the selling of books and movies on its platform based on their political viewpoint or should they not be allowed to ban the selling of books based on their political perspective?”

Amazon should be allowed to ban: 40%; Amazon should not be allowed to ban: 60%.

“Recently Amazon pulled off its store a book challenging some of the assumptions of the transgender movement. Do you think Amazon should be taking such books out of its online store or should be allowing the book to be sold on its platform?”

Amazon should review the book: 39%; Amazon should not remove the book, 61%.

If I'm a Dem campaign consultant contemplating 2022, I've gotta be a little weak in the knees reading this stuff.

  1. Why would a Dem campaign consultant be a little weak in the knees for this stuff? Wouldn't he know that Dems will keep stealing the elections?

  2. This may be the most upbeat post that you've had in months.

  3. Ho hum. The Demsheviks aren't paying any attention to polls in 2021 for the same reason they didn't in 2020: voters don't matter anymore, only vote counters. They control the counting ergot...

    1. Ho hum. Explain that to all the Dems who lost in House races in 2020, when Dems were supposed to gain.

    2. BTW, "ergot" is a fungus. "Ergo" is the Latin word you're looking for.

    3. That word distinction made me chuckle. I/we need more chuckling. And, yes, there are vast swaths of this great land without corrupted election officials- even in blue states. Ergo, (See what I did there?) the massive swing in Republican House victories in Nov 2020.

    4. Ditto at chuckle 🤭 and I've got no room to talk about typos!

    5. "Explain that to all the Dems who lost in House races in 2020".
It was a matter of priorities.
Dems could lose those House races, knowing that a Dem-run DS would help them get those seats back in 2 years.
They *had* to win the WH, or they would likely be torched by Durham or his successor.

    6. Is ergot the plural? Just asking.

  4. Since the manipulation that went on in the Dominion system had to have been done by members of our intelligence community, or at the very least, with their assistance, I don't particularly find comfort in much of any of these kinds of discussions. Why doesn't Mark Penn compare and contrast for us -- the Poll Numbers in the world he is asking us to live in with these results matter to any one, and the "statistics" in the world where 80 million people voted for the corpse of a person they never saw fit to support for President when he was alive? 5. Apparently the proletariats are not particularly fond of their rulers narratives either.

The propaganda machines are going to need to double time their "Repubs bad" "conservatisum is evil" psychological projection.

Maybe another DC riot trap or two will help. That's probably why the IC is scheduling the March 4th shindig!!

  6. Another poll driven analysis, what it highlights to me after the partisan spin, is the change that Trump has created in the two parties.

Or, some more of the oodles of tricks from the DS repertoire.

  8. Wait: what? "Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: The 2020 election was unfair because big tech companies, Hollywood, big corporations, and the media worked together to hold back information from voters and change the rules against Donald Trump, or were their actions fair?"

Isn't that two questions? Couldn't someone answer "agree" to "Were their actions fair?" How can the pollsters avoid confounding the "agree" and "disagree" answers? This looks like a poorly constructed item.

  9. The Democrats would be worried if they thought that the Republicans will use the issues in these polls to challenge them.

But, we have a de facto (de jure?) one party government, so we can expect the Republicans to run on cliché platitudes.

Consider the speech of the Govener of South Dakota at the CPAC convention.

It was all about “Love of liberty” and the ‘Founding Fathers” and the “Declaration of Independence”.

Not one of the poll items cited above was a part of her speech; unless she picked up on them after I stopped listening about 2/3 of the way through.

    1. Good point, Tom. Those are "platitudes" that tend to appeal to ideological Libertarians--Classical Liberals. The appeal there is to so called "movement conservatives." Those are not, in fact, Trumpian talking points and those weren't the talking points that got Trump elected or got him that huge increase in votes-including from minority voters.

    2. Same with Desantis. Seems the GOP still has some control. If you want to be a Republican you can express sympathy for Trump's platform, but you still can't embrace the man or the movement. So we get Newt Gingrich saying we should never be attacking RINOs while there's still a Democrat to attach first, with the aim of making Kevin McCarthy Speaker in 2022. I mean, come on man, we're done being played. There will always be a democrat to attack and another seat of Congress to capture. The people who support Trump in the fighting style he employs, are people like Sidney Powell. The Left media circle Jerk is going to put her and everyone like her beyond the pale, that's how they maintain dominance over the rest of the country. They're saying they get to decide who is beyond the pale. It's what the Big Tech censorship does. GOPe is complicit. LMCJ says Sidney Powell is wacko for pointing out that our so-called election system is eminently riggable, and GOPe bows and scrapes. Can't Talk About It. The GOP doesn't like Sidney Powell. That's why I like her. I hope Trump, for all his talk of making the GOP Great Again, is planning on insisting that anyone he backs needs to be a fighter. Mark A

Interestingly this is the same debate the Liberal Democrats are having with the mainline party.

“We have to support this or that person even if we don’t agree because the alternative is worse.”

Jimmy Dore’s YouTube program is constantly attacking the ‘lesser of two evils” line of thinking. He thinks its time to break with the Democrats and start a third genuinely liberal party.

Trump Conservatives are coming to the same conclusion. They need to break with the Republic Party and start a genuinely Conservative third Party. Interestingly, Trump nixed that immediately.

In short, the masses on both sides of the political spectrum are feed up with the political system. We may be on the cusp of a genuine political revolution.
