GOP Enthusiastic Over Nadler's SCOTUS Packing Bill

You can read some good coverage on this issue at Red State. Earlier on the first post today I linked to Thomas Lifson explaining why Nadler's surprise move is a sign of Dem desperation--they see continuing and even increasing disasters for the Zhou Baiden regime. That's the only rational explanation for not waiting for Zhou's "Commission" to even meet. At Red State Brandon Morse addresses this:

Dems Unveil Plan to Pack the Supreme Court but Republicans Can't Wait for Them to Try

The reason for GOP enthusiasm is totally obvious: This is an incredible surefire win for the GOP going into Election 2022. Pelosi has only two votes to spare in her House--will that fail? It just may, and that signals the type of existential desperation that Daniel McCarthy talks about:

The Democratic party is dying. That may be hard to believe since Democrats control both houses of Congress and won the last presidential election with a record 81 million votes. But the exiguous margins of their hold on the House and Senate, with fewer than 51 percent of the seats in either chamber, tell another story, as does the desperation of their struggle to abolish the filibuster and federalize election law.

Those policy aims are of a piece with dreams of packing the Supreme Court — and packing the Senate too, by admitting tiny Democratic bastions as new states. The left wing of the party even assails the constitutional principle behind the Senate itself, the idea of equal representation of the states.

Simply put, Democrats know they can no longer win by the old agreed-upon rules, constitutional or otherwise. ...

So, the Dem schemes, says McCarthy are a sign of weakness--not strength. Before you argue against him, consider that the polling is strongly against the Dems on this SCOTUS issue. The GOP would not be so openly elated if they didn't know this too:

  1. Until we deal with how the Dems steal elections, all this Republican enthusiasm is for naught.

    1. Exactly. I hope this is not something Marc thinks of defeatism, because it is true and imperative.

  2. It's likely that the Republicans will win control of the House and of the Senate in the 2020 elections. The Democrats' current radicalism is scaring the swing voters.

In the longer run, though, a growing portion of the electorate favors stricter government control of our economy and society and favors redistribution of wealth.

Our society is becoming intellectually and culturally decadent.

    1. To be honest, I'm not sure what to think. I can certainly agree with your last paragraph. OTOH, sometimes I wonder whether liberal overreach could spark a sometimes somewhat incoherent but nevertheless powerful reaction.

      We. Don't. Know. Anything.

All of us are being subjected to such a blizzard of propaganda and disinformation that you nor I can make any, real assessment of what Americans really think about much of anything.

For example, you say a growing number of people favor greater govt control. Who told you that? A poll? By whom? The same ones that said Biden was ahead by 20 points? Never underestimate how much our perceptions of reality is shaped by mass media, big tech algorithms, fake news, social influencers, and the Kleptocracy. Do you also believe that Biden got more votes than Obama? Do you believe that the Wuhan Flu is more lethal than other coronaviruses we already have immunities to? Do you believe hydroxychloroquine will kill you but an mRNA jab is perfectly safe?

Hate to beat a dead horse here but it's frustrating to see how patriots fall for this fakery all the time.

Are we in trouble here in America? You betcha. Plenny. But we have to hold onto what every one of us saw with our lying eyes: 2020 TrumpoMania. Spontaneous outpourings of support and even devotion in every practical way--- boat parades, 30,000 car drive bys, marches, rallies, truckers, bikers, gays, blacks, latinos... Massive rallies where tens of thousands waited for a day to get in to see this guy. And then November 3d they all came out and voted like never before, people who never voted got out. Record numbers. All races, classes. This was a tidal wave that took the Kleptocrats utmost dirtiest and foulest tricks to subvert. And it really wasn't for Trump. He was just a handy proxy for Americana, patriotism, genuine brotherhood and goodness (as strange as it sounds).

And it didn't stop there. A million came out on January 6th. They demanded a pause in certification until the vote could be investigated. Instead the Kleptocracy staged a false flag assault on the Capitol in order to paint all Trump supporters as domestic terrorists.

So, based on what we SAW, not the false narrative we're fed, the mind of most Americans is just fine. Our problem is a system that's been hijacked by a uniparty Kleptocracy that has already shown that they will go to any lengths to keep power and thwart the People.

So pardon me if I don't join the rah rah electoral bandwagon that the professional political consultant class is driving. Sure, they'll make out just fine banging the can for endless donations they can gorge on for a system that is no longer functioning. Many of us are happy to fall for it because the alternative is too frightening to contemplate.

Last thought. Let's stipulate that this so called Republican party actually wins control of both houses in 2022-- ie that the Kleptocrats allow it. What then? When has this motley assortment of fools and charlatans ever used their majority to effect real change for patriots? Not since Gingrich at least. You think it's heartbreaking to see what the Regime is doing now? Wait till your own GOP is doing it to you in 2023. Our salvation is not in 2022 elections. Full stop.

    4. Mark, even if liberal overreach could spark a sometimes somewhat incoherent but nevertheless powerful reaction, the SJWs may not mind, esp. if they're confident, that their Chicom/ DS etc. pals can smash such a somewhat incoherent reaction.
Indeed, many SJWs may relish such a brawl.

    5. A great point, aNany - we are not at war with the Democrats, we are in a bunch of skirmishes with them. The enemy is the deep state, and they have kicked our butts since 2016 in public and keep taking our lunch money. I firmly believe most of the folks in DC are bought and sold by the Chi Coms. Biden is pounding his chest for kicking out some low level Russian diplomats thinking he's hurting RUSSIA! What a crock. Russia has regional ambitions while the Chinese are working towards world domination. I believe a lot of our deep state is in total lock step with them on this....so.....how do we defeat the deep state? Could it be that Durham is actually the last hope for our republic?

Far be it for me to object to a righteous rant. Well done!

I agree with most of everything you write, up to your last paragraph. I especially agree with your paragraph beginning: "Are we in trouble here in America?" I watched what you watch and I was overwhelmed with the degree of and passion for Trump. I was sure he would 'win'. And I still suspect that he did 'win'.

Where perhaps we differ (although I am listening carefully) is that the Kleptocrats will decide who wins in 2022. In my view, there are powerful cross-currents rocking the political status quo. We'll see if the Kleptocrats retain control. There are plenty of reasons to believe that populism, and populist success at the polling place, is still growing. We'll see.

      Then there's this.

"[T]he movement we started is only just beginning. There's never been anything like it."

      --President Donald J. Trump, January 19, 2021.

    8. @Apocolypsenowprosy: what you're referring to is the Deep state. Those elites that control the banking, military, globalism, etc... Many liberals amongst them. It's going to take more than a 1 term Presidency to solve this temporarily. History has proven this cycle comes and goes every 20 - 30 years.

I will concede to you this:if the deep state, AC, controls elections now as I think, it's hard to account for the Regime's frenzy to implement every wild scheme and policy that can only alert the population. Logic would dictate a lower profile while they consolidate power for the long haul. Their behavior seems more consistent with people who believe their hold on power is tenuous and short lived. There may be other explanations, though.

    10. @Apocaleprosy -- Easy - Deep State and Regime are not one and the same -- deep state installed or significantly aided and abetted the installation of the Regime using the control they have (hammer / scorecard ) over our electronic voting system. The Regime may be very unsure of how much time it has to implement its agenda but that doesn't mean the 2020 election didn't indicate that the deep state has an alarming amount of control over all manner of electronic systems and perhaps not uncoincidentally an alarming amount of control over the journalistic reporting and constitutionally provided oversight of its control over electronic systems. 11. @Apocaleprosy -- in other words, if the GOP exists as a separate political entity from the Dems why doesn't supposed MAGA congresscritters Jim Jordan or Devin Nunes bring Ron Desantis and the virologists and physicians he interviewed on his banned You tube up to capitol hill or accompany him on to Fox News to discuss alternative views of COVID policy, hell why don't they bring in Michael Yeadon? Why don't they bring in General Flynn or Sidney Powell to talk election integrity? If they're MAGA why do they not put their money where their mouth is? Truth is, NO ONE in FEDEARAL GOVERNMENT wants ANY kind of airing of issues that would complicate the exertion of FEDERAL control over our lives. Both parties, deeply committed to the idea that if Apocaleprosy and Mark A are left too much to their own devices, all hell will break loose in the world. They all believe that. They all behave exactly as you would expect someone to behave who believes that. Mark A

    12. @ Mark A

Hmmm...so in your view the DS is a separate power center unto itself, neither controlled by or even necessarily cooperative with the, for lack of better term, Uniparty Establishment. In this view, I imagine the DS tells the so called elected officials what they will and won't be allowed to do (which ties in w other post by MW about military perhaps having its own similar say). And, further, the Uniparty doesn't yet know whom the DS will allow to be elected in 2022 so the pols are in some fashion vying for the approval and selection of the DS, is that it?

If so, this suggests a true Kleptocracy akin to organized crime families that vie for power w each other and divide up the plunder taken from the People. Sounds more and more like the way the PRC is run, faction vs faction, except Xi is on top for now, whereas here there is no, clear Godfather, so to speak.

    13. @Apocalypsenowprosy: The Deep state is a separate power mainly aligned with the liberals. Of course they tell those in political power positions what's tolerable and not tolerable based on their beliefs.

To your response to Cassander: "it's hard to account for the Regime's frenzy to implement every wild scheme and policy that can only alert the population. Logic would dictate a lower profile while they consolidate power for the long haul. Their behavior seems more consistent with people who believe their hold on power is tenuous and short lived." In other words, Zhou will tell you one thing to get elected, appease the mass and then follow through with the exact opposite. Look at the things he's said most recently being the SC packing subject. Guess what, lying is an art and the libs / Dem's have perfected it. The fact that the MSM is aligned with their lies further consolidates their charade. Further, these people do know how tenuous this is for sure however it won't stop them from trying to progress their agenda with Deep State collaboration making things more difficult down the road to "unwind" these decisions.

  3. So far none of my leftwing friends has called or written to apologize for calling me alarmist about SCOTUS, the filibuster, Iran, the border, Covid, CRT or anything else I argued was coming before the election. Forget apologize--even mere acknowledgement would be a start. Instead they are silent--and in the current situation, silence is violence. The left is literally wrecking havoc--at the border, in the cities, in the Mideast. People are getting killed as a result of the policies that Democrat voters put into place via the radical pols they elected. After 2020 I don't know how anybody could be sanguine about the chances of a GOP rebound in 2022 and 2024. And I must say that I agree with Apocaleprosy about the questionable value of re-installing Stupid Party v14.0. There are about six GOP keepers in the Senate and maybe three dozen in the House. As Strother Martin said coming down the mountain (without money) with Butch Cassidy and Sundance Kid, "Morons. I've got morons on my team."

  4. I tend not to play in the DNC / GOP aka Repubs vs Dems game anymore. I rarely mention either party because I KNOW they are BOTH corrupted disasters. I see it as being very hypocritical to "fan cheer" a party even when I agree on a subject.

Repubs will retake the houses in 2022 but it has very little to do with "democrats" or what anyone thinks of them...

I believe (know) the majority in this forum are way smarter than that explanation. We've discussed it many times before.

  5. If the democrat part is dying, it's because they killed their own moderates.

What killed the moderates? Woke-ism and cancel culture. Republicans can sometimes survive a cancelling... if they've surrounded themselves with enough people who don't like democrat bullies. But a liberal who surrounds himself with liberals... let's just say the very best he can hope for when cancel culture comes from them is that their friends encourage them to fatally apologize, if the "friends" don't merely cut ties.

Look at the democrat primaries. There was ONE candidate that wasn't a complete fruitcake, and everybody ignored her, including the media who shaped that primary. All the rest took what looked like loyalty oaths, each embracing radical-left positions for fear that they would be the only ones not to.

If the election hadn't turned out to be a hoax, that should have been fatal, as Trump hadn't had to win a primary before facing his electoral opponent.
