I wondered about not enough time to review the evidence, too:
A verdict that fast is likely a compromise - all agree to take 2nd degree murder off the shelf and accept third degree or manslaughter. Limited deliberation time indicates none were interested in thoroughly reviewing all the evidence introduced as that would take longer.

It won’t get that far. The Sixth Circuit will reverse if the Minn Courts do not. https://t.co/xZQx5PQdWw

OT, but after all, it's about our court system. Notice I didn't say legal system:
Amy Coney Barrett doesn't have time to look at election law cases or abortion cases or gun rights cases but she's got time to take $2 million for a book advance before she's done anything on the court?

This is what I predicted. Impossibly difficult for a jury given all the media and political focus. A quick return often means guilty but I have been surprised before. https://t.co/E9y6G1beAO

There is a SWC comment out there floating around... Something to the effect of, the current judge has attempted to withhold the bias in the case as best as possible. But ultimately he's just defecting bias for the soon to follow appeal.
ReplyDeleteWe're on a very bad path with this social justice rioting fear / threats and intimidation mess.
The feds set the of multi tier justice going back several years... And it is a very poor one. You risk explosion if you put the lid back on the pot and a implosion if you do not.
The judge took the easy way out.
Delete@JackP on his notion that the Supreme Court will ultimately reverse a conviction. Not a chance. There are at least three full-time cowards on that court.
ReplyDeleteThe feds set the *example* of multi...
ReplyDeleteBriefly noted: Guilty on all counts. Geez this was a blood bath. No way they deliberated much of anything. Cooked jurors.
ReplyDeleteWhoa. Guilty on all counts. I thought, like SWC, the jury wouldn't go for the trifecta. Talk about a miscarriage of justice. Were they afraid of the mob? Or just out and out stupid? Or were their minds made up before they even sat down? All of the above?
ReplyDeleteAll possible.
DeleteTeasing out the fear factor, possible they're assuming that someone else (appeals court) will correct the verdict and thereby protect the jurors from wrath.
But we know where that goes: the appeals court justices have families, too. And so do the next judges, and the next...
and this just in McCarthy's censure of Watters ran 216-210 to table the motion. Don't these people have a conscious? Do the Dem's sign a "blood letter" when coming to congress or face the wrath of Pelosi amongst others? Something's not right.
ReplyDeleteGood, meaning that Pelosi etc. own this bigly?
DeleteYes.
DeleteI followed the case closely every day. This is a miscarriage of justice. Will it be corrected? It will take courageous judges, and we have just seen the first one cave in at every opportunity.
ReplyDeleteI paid attention only to what was forced upon my attention. Jason Whitlock had it totally right: #showtrial. Why would I waste time on a show trial? If SCOTUS justices can be intimidated so easily, who would expect these jurors to do other than what they did.
DeleteThe big takeaway is that police in cities with significant black populations will stop doing their jobs, will retire, take disability, move elsewhere--they'd be fools to do otherwise. Why risk imprisonment for doing the right thing? This is on the Dems.
I felt it necessary to be a witness to this. I had no real doubt that it would turn out this way, but I wanted to know that it was an injustice rather than just believing it.
DeleteSo, my question is this- is he guilty of felony murder in the 2nd degree, or is he guilty of manslaughter. It seems to me that he can't be guilty of all three homicide charges- only the highest one.
ReplyDeleteI heard all 3 and that he'll spend the better part of 4 decades behind bars.
DeleteOnce the first white sacrifice has been made, the demands for the next will come in ever shorter intervals.

With violence and destruction of your city or the cancelling of you and your family there was no way the jury would give him a fair hearing. They just wanted out. I think in the jury selection alone the only people who wanted to be on that jury were those who knew what their verdict would be before the trial started. Did they even review the any evidence? Can't wait to all the social workers start to sign up for the job. Will they even be able to get any officer to respond to in progress calls. 99% of calls will be cleared "suspect g.o.a."
ReplyDeleteI predict there will still be rioting somewhere.
ReplyDeleteThe Sacred Heart of Jesus Church in Minneapolis was just destroyed by fire.
DeleteAny wonder what's really happening? Why racism is relentlessly galvanized by the Democrats?
Any wonder what REALLY happened January 6th? Why Jezebel Pelosi left her office wide open with her laptop up for grabs on her desk?
Why is the murder of Ashli Babbitt silenced? Why are we not hammering this out right now?
"The terrorists should disguise themselves as protesters and pretend to have similar views to infiltrate the protesters and steer them to violent actions, such as car ramming, the article recommends."

Whitlock needs to find another platform like Outkick but more to his liking. Maybe I'm expecting more than he can deliver but for about a nine month period he was delivering some of the best social criticism I'd heard in a long time in a variety of forums and recently it's been reduced to a trickle,
ReplyDeleteOur Dem-run cities have been a mess for decades. Now they will become unlivable. The same people that give Dems their votes will see their lives become a living hell. Fine with me. Eventually, we could self-sort into Red-controlled and Blue-controlled areas, with governors like DeSantis pushing to preserve the peace and rule of law. Let the blue states go to Hades. They richly deserve every last bit of self-inflicted pain that they suffer. There isn't even any point in trying to convince the left anymore. They live in a dark fantasy world. They are dead to me.
ReplyDeleteAs I understand it, apart from legal niceties, the three overlapping charges were the MN attorney general's way of insuring a guilty verdict. Give the jury a choice, greater to lesser. Don't force them to acquit because you can't prove a single serious charge.
ReplyDeleteThat they found him guilty of all three charges demonstrates, at least to me, that they didn't bother looking at the evidence. Indeed, this was a show trial. Had Chauvin been charged with kidnapping, they would have convicted him of it.
We are at a low water mark. The justice system is a corrupt, rotten joke. Our rulers are going to find out what happens when a people no longer believe in a justice system. Things are falling apart.
For example, the witless NYC police commissioner said: "Justice has been served. NYPD will be out tonight to insure that peaceful demonstrations have the ability to proceed safely." A subsequent video shows #BLM whackos hollering at outdoor restaurant diners telling them to get the f**k out of NY because they're white. The chants were led by a white man.
The police are a mess. They make mistakes and they compound them. If the police think going over to the other side and kissing politically correct ass, to keep their jobs, is a sound move, they need to think again. The politically correct despise them.
They need to keep us on their side.
