Maybe It Wasn't Suicide?

I'm just pasting this in from CTH from TGP--the Sheriff is reconsidering his precipitous announcement that Phillip Haney shot himself in the chest:

From Gateway Pundit – […] “Unfortunately, there was misinformation immediately being put out that we have determined Mr. Haney’s death to be a suicide. This is not the case. We are currently in the beginning phase of our investigation and any final determination as to the cause and manner of Mr. Haney’s death would be extremely premature and inappropriate. No determination will be made until all evidence is examined and analyzed.” (read more)

It seems to simply be the decent thing to do in the circumstances--Wait at least as long as it took to declare that Jeffrey Epstein's death was the result of a "perfect storm of coincidences." The sheriff is asking the FBI for assistance. I'm not sure what to think about that.

  1. You always work any death as a murder until you can reasonably prove it as a suicide.

    That's basic cop stuff. B A S I C!

  2. If "any final determination as to the cause and manner of Mr. Haney’s death would be extremely premature and inappropriate", why Sheriff, did you pop off the other day about how he "appeared to have suffered a single, self inflicted gunshot wound"?

What was the rush, and why did you see a need to back off of that?
Is he just a Keystone Cop, or is more going on here?

  4. Asking “why” the sheriff issued that immediate statement is an exercise in futility. I believe it is unlikely he knew Haney’s history, what his backstory was. Not an excuse, just a possibility for a guy found dead with a gun next to his car. And then the story began to roll out. His past plus the many statements from his friends - some very well known - that suicide just didn’t fit. The sheriff relented. As for his calling on the FBI, that could make things worse. They do know who Haney was and what he was doing. Will their penchant for coverup continue and preclude their digging too deep? I am not optimistic. A good local detective would have been my choice.

  5. The Federalist has this re Flynn this morning. O/T for this thread, but not sure where else to put it:

    1. Today's a bit of a mental health day. I did see that, and it was very good. Nothing we don't know, but the point about the timing of the leak and the interview and Yates' statement should be fuel for a leak investigation. It's a reason why Yates should be in big trouble.

  6. Hmmm ... it would be interesting if we find out the standard deviation.

How many folks seem to die around Dems/Hillary versus the Republicans/Trump.

    Just saying.

  7. "The sheriff is asking the FBI for assistance."

Assistance with ... bagging the hands? I'm also not sure what to make of the SO reportedly requesting FBI assistance unless it's for something outside normal homicide investigation, which just about every SO in the country is perfectly capable of performing. The only standard "need" for FBI that comes to mind would be AFIS. And that's not really the same thing as "FBI assistance". There may be elements not presently disclosed, of course. Or maybe they just want to leave no daylight for the inevitable conspiracy theories.
