Why May Igor Danchenko--Steele's Primary Subsource--Be Important?

This brief tweet (below) by Stephen McIntyre hints at a web of connections involving Christopher Steele's supposed primary source for his fictional "dossier" and a variety of Deep State actors whose history would lead one to suspect that their views would be antithetical to those of Trump. Primary among those actors is Fiona Hill--a former National Security Council staffer under H. R. McMaster who also testified against President Trump's interests in the fake impeachment hearings. Further, Hill worked for George Soros' Open Society Foundation from 2000 - 2006:

not long ago, I saw a tweet that quoted an article in which Fiona Hill had been approached by Steele earlier in 2016 trying to contact a person who now appears to be PSS [Danchenko]. Can anyone give me link to tweet or article.

That Fiona Hill was acquainted with Christopher Steele and held him in high regard is well known, as is the fact that Hill was in touch with Steele during the 2016 election campaign. Hill is also very familiar with Igor Danchenko--they were colleagues at the Brookings Institute. It would therefore be natural enough for Steele to go through Hill to contact Danchenko.

The connections of these various Deep State actors to Steele and Danchenko as well as to Soros is tantalizing. The question is: What has John Durham been able to make of these connections? It seems likely that Danchenko's identity has been hidden this long because Durham has been tracking down all possible leads surrounding him and interviewing everyone with a connection. It's a sprawling investigation, but it could conceivably lead to direct connections between the original Russia Hoax and the later fake impeachment.

Interesting days await us.

  1. 2020 is getting stranger.

Fiona Hill was a Professor to Danchenko.

Fiona Hill was supposedly outed by Stone.

    She worked under McMaster.

Had worked for the Soros Open Society for 6 years.

    Had worked with Ciaramella.

Danchenko and Hill both worked at the Brookings Institute.

And Danchenko had some Ukrainian Connections.

    1. Really good and thorough eye-opening information. Anonymous written, because Roger Stone, Michael Flynn and even Donald Trump cannot stop these people.

  2. Good morning. Just in case you haven't already come across it, here's the link to Eric Felten's RCI latest, "The 'Primary Subsource's' Guide to Russiagate, as Told to the FBI." bit.ly/3jluiLn

I read it over coffee. Every sip was even tastier than usual somehow. I'll just leave it at that.

    1. Thanks. I'm a bit slow getting started today because I had to take a car in for service. I'll definitely get to it.

    2. It captures some of the absurdity of it all, but we've known that for a long, long time.

  3. We're just beginning to think about this subsource connection to various players. Durham has had a year to do the same. I'm sure he got much further than a memo :) Graham's aggressive tone in concert with his release of the subsource interview memo suggests this is going somewhere. Graham gets a lot of criticism for not joining the bandwagon loudly and early enough, and then when he makes noises it's for the cameras. He is ultimately very cautious, and we cannot forget he is also a politician who plays to the cameras. But When Graham actually acts and moves, he has everything in order.

    1. Agreed. As I said at the time, I'm sure Graham is coordinating with Barr on all this.

  4. I believe that Schiff's use of Fiona Hill during the impeachment trial shows he knows way more than he's let on in the public domain. He knows about these relationships she's had with Steele and his sub sources. Should we assume Devin Nunes knows as much as well? I hope so.

    1. I think that's true. The significance of Danichenko is that his role in this and his connection to Hill opens a window on the involvement of so many other Deep State players. We have to assume that Durham is trying to track it all down and assess it.

  5. An interesting side note: PSS was directed, and paid, by Steele, but through a cut-out company to obscure the source of funds. PSS was kept at a distance, and was not introduced to most of the Orbis employees.

Second intriguing observation: PSS -- who began doing work for Steele back around 2010-11 -- complains in the interview multiple times, when asked to research Manafort, and later Trump campaign for Steele, that this was outside his wheelhouse, and he felt uncomfortable doing it. His normal line of research for Steele seems to have been business/economic/political type research, including due diligence type projects for Steele's commercial clients.

IOW, Steele put a guy on the Dossier work who had no experience in intelligence collection, ops, or analysis, and who, by his own admission, never met a Russian intelligence official (to his knowledge) in his life.

Why would a former MI6 agent assign such work to someone so ill-suited to it? Most likely, because PSS had an informal network of sources in Eastern Europe, including Russia, and so superficially, it would look legit to the FBI when they shopped the Dossier crap to them.

As McIntyre points out, there is no evidence that we know of that the PSS received or passed along any collusion allegations to Steele, and disowns the collusion allegations that appear in the Dossier. This suggests that Steele either fabricated the collusion allegations himself, or they were fed to him by Fusion GPS (or someone else,) and added them as "ginger bread" on the framework provided by PSS's network of drinking pals passing along third hand gossip, combined with open source research by FusionGPS operatives fluent in Russian.

    IOW, a classic disinfo op.
