Dems Embrace Social Dissolution For The Election

What could possibly go wrong with embracing social dissolution as a party platform for a national election? Apparently operating on the principle that you really can fool most of the people all of the time, the Dems seem to think they can pull a neat political judo trick by blaming the increasing chaos on Trumpian "Stormtroopers." And that the Covid19 shutdown debacle can be extended indefinitely by local Dem politcos but also blamed on Trump--as if no one would notice.

Breitbart has a story that provides a metric to show that these narratives are going over like a lead balloon, including in core Blue areas--major urban centers: Flight from the Cities: Existing Home Sales Soar Nearly 21%—A Record Shattering Monthly Jump.

Existing-home sales exploded higher in June as home buyers took advantage of record-low mortgage rates and fled city centers beset with anti-police protests, riots, looting, crime, shootings, stay-at-home orders, shuttered businesses, closed schools, and a loss of amenities such as restaurants, theaters, and museums.
...
“The sales recovery is strong, as buyers were eager to purchase homes and properties that they had been eyeing during the shutdown,” said Lawrence Yun, NAR’s chief economist. “This revitalization looks to be sustainable for many months ahead as long as mortgage rates remain low and job gains continue.”
The shutdown may have led to some pent up demand, leading sales higher. In addition, many city-dwellers now see suburban life more attractive because so many cities have shutdown restaurants, bars, theaters, museums, and other cultural and commercial amenities that made urban life desirable. Parents are also seeking out school districts where schools may open full-time rather than continue the virtual learning that marked the end of the last school year and seems likely for many city schools this fall.

Some significant proportion of these refugees will surely not forget which party was responsible for turning their lives upside down. They know that Trumpian Stormtroopers are not the problem, and that defunding the police is not the solution. They have to realize at a gut level that the Dems have gone one bridge too far. Or maybe several bridges. At a gut level they know that "virtual learning" is NO learning. It's not a coincidence that Connecticut, which is planning to reopen its schools, is experiencing a massive immigration of New Yorkers. There may be many reasons to explain that, but the school issue will surely be close to the top.

Tom Rogan at the Washington Examiner focuses on the issue of the Dem embrace of urban violence--which he correctly views as a winning issue for Trump:

The simple truth, one that Democratic politicians such as Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot need to grasp quickly, is that most people don't want to get shot dead. Their ignorance of that reality, willful or otherwise, reflects a quite stunning failure of political leadership.
The facts are clear. The chaos in Portland is a direct consequence of Mayor Ted Wheeler's appeasement of roving criminals. But rather than confront the destruction of private property and attacks on police officers and city residents, Wheeler is playing to the idiotic Twitter meme that the federal law enforcement officers are actually the Gestapo. In Chicago, Lightfoot is playing the same game.
Apparently, trying to woo the far left of the Democratic Party, Lightfoot tweeted on Tuesday, "Under no circumstances will I allow Donald Trump’s troops to come to Chicago and terrorize our residents." The timing of that tweet gave it an almost Shakespearean tragic irony. After all, just 30 minutes before Lightfoot warned against a Gestapo invasion, 15 people were shot outside a Chicago funeral home. As Shakespeare put it, this "jest will savour but of shallow wit, when thousands weep more than did laugh at it."
We must note that this shooting is an atrocity reflective not of poverty but rather of criminal gangs who have no regard for life. Gang violence motivated by the perception of offended honor and control over the drug trade source most of this violence.

In an interview that has to be read to be believed--Philly DA Says He'll Prosecute Trump 'Stormtroopers' Sent To Control BLM Chaos--this knucklehead yammers on about defending Philly's "liberty" against "fascism," actually invoking WWII. I'm trying to picture this guy dispatching Philly's finest to take the FBI's HRT (or other similar units) into custody. He better be ready for Bill Barr to have that jackbooted crew crashing through his own door. There's a price to be paid for sedition. Of course, the DA is really just engaging in political theater, as the Dems have been doing since the 2016 election. He includes legalistic escape clauses to save his behind.

The problem for the Dems is, it's too late now, it's already too close to the election, to walk this craziness back and come up with a new platform. They own the crazy now. They've given the American people a very clear choice.

To savor the full craziness into which the Dems are descending, try this out: Democrat Rep shockingly claims Trump wants ‘to be the Grand Wizard of KKK’ and ‘instigate a race war’. For example:

“Anytime you send a group of armed bandits, outlaws, no uniform, no name, no identification, and you just snatch up innocent people and you take them off to some unrecognized, unknown place, you know you are really terrorizing a nation,” Rush said Wednesday on SiriusXM’s The Joe Madison Show.
...
“Trump wants to instigate a race war. He wants to have Black folks fighting White folks so he can rise up and say, ‘I’m the real Grand Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan and I’m the President. Re-elect me.’ That’s what he’s trying to do.”

I'm counting on Trump's narrative to win the day. I really believe those people who are fleeing the Blue cities understand what's going on.

And then there's this issue:

  1. The assumption is not that you can fool all of the people all of the time, but that you can fool enough of the people enough of the time. They think that with help from the tech oligopolies and the fake news media, they can do it. I hope they are wrong.

As for "the price of sedition," if they are empiricists, they haven't yet seen any evidence that there is one. I hope they're wrong about that, too.

    1. No surprise here. If people support Third World governance they can't be surprised at Third World societal markers like child soldiers or tribal raiding parties.

    2. Which makes you wonder--Exactly what do these people think they're voting for? It's not as if the ball is being hidden from them. Even if the platforms and rhetoric didn't tell the story, the decades long track record surely does. The answer is willful self deception and willful resentment against people who speak the truth of reality plainly.

    3. Leftists support conscription of child soldiers.

"Toddlers and very young children are marched outside the Portland federal courthouse. They carry signs and say, 'F— the police' on cue from the adults. One toddler does the black power fist."

  3. Listening to Andy McCarthy on the John Batchelor Show (John Batchelor is an American treasure, btw) and McCarthy comments he's surprised the feds in Portland aren't arresting more of the rioters, noting feds have a perfect right to arrest them and not to do so just invites more of the same.

It got me to thinking that, like so many others have proposed over and over, there may really be something to the idea that Trump & the feds are just letting more and more of these creeps, and their creepy supporters everywhere, show themselves both to evidence-gathering law enforcement and to the electorate as a whole.

All of which got me thinking more still, this time about the immortal words of Dodgeball's Pepper Brooks, ie: “It’s a bold strategy, Cotton. Let's see if it pays off for 'em.”

    1. Thinking is a dangerous pastime. It has been known to lead to conclusions, then action, and, well, next thing you know you're drifting down Old Man River on a raft with a kid named Huck. ;-)

    2. Good point. I need to be more careful with that (haha).

  4. Having lived through latter half of 20th century, there was always a view that there were evil leaders, like Hitler, Stalin, Mao, who were ruthless and charismatic to achieve power. Now, living through current events, I now wonder how much herd mentality also contributed to these movements. So much of what goes on is clearly evil and not beneficial to society, and large numbers of people call for it, seemingly against their own interests.

  5. I think I remarked some days ago that there will be more cities like Detroit in the coming years. Places like Seattle, Portland, Chicago, SF, NYC will be far, far less attractive because the trade-offs for city living will have flipped. Personal safety from crime and urban dysfunction will far outweigh the once exciting, but now shutdown/curtailed amenities of restaurants, clubs, theatres, music venues, sports--of dense social life that formerly contributed to stimulating and exciting circumstances, as well as personal and professional development.

    1. My wife was just listening to some guy on our local news radio talking about the flight from the cities, and he was stressing "personal safety from crime and urban dysfunction" as the factor. And of course that's coded language. The Dems' tactics are causing these cities to implode and forcing tough choices on the wealthier people who thought they were somehow insulated from all that.
