Two Important Reads Re Covid Treatments

The other day commenter Ray So-Cal sent me a link to a fascinating article by George Parry regarding several drugs, including HCQ, that appear to be very effective against Covid19. Parry is a former prosecutor whom I've cited several times for his incisive commentary on the Russia Hoax. Unfortunately, although I intended to write about this I've been tied up with the Russia Hoax and have let the pandemic slide. Well, maybe that's good. Anyway ...

I just now saw at Zerohedge an article that sparked my interest and fits right in with Parry's article. I don't have time to do more than link the articles for those who are interested.

At Zerohedge:

"Remdesivir Is Probably Worthless" - A Trauma Surgeon Exposes "Drug Company's Shenanigans"

I've been waiting for this. This whole buildup of Remdesivir--because Trump didn't recommend it--has always seemed like a huge con to me.

And here's George Parry's article:

A Report From the Front

    1. Bingo! But the Trump factor is important, too.

    2. They'd rather see people die that live because of anything Trump recommended. It's the most extraordinary and indecent thing I've ever seen.

  2. I thought remdesivir was just another possible treatment for COVID-19. Haven’t seen anything on its being touted as the “only” drug. China raced to apply for its own patent on it in January. In February a university in Beijing planned to start a clinical trial on about 2700 mild to moderate COVID-19 patients. By April they had to suspend it because not enough subjects signed up for it.

I can’t find anything negative about results out of China re remdesivir. I can’t find any results out of China.

Hoofnagle prides himself on being a crank. Was publishing a blog called Denialism, but that appears to have disappeared. I read quite a lot about him, had a look at his photo, and decided that this general surgeon (not specifically a trauma surgeon) would not touch a hangnail on me…

    Just sayin’….

    1. I've been hearing about it as a breakthrough on the radio--my wife listens to CBS radio out of habit. Nevertheless, the article makes sense to me. Put it together with the Parry one.

  3. Sorry, but Hoofnagle just hasn’t the credibility. This is more blogger clickbait stuff. A surgeon should know better. But he gets only a low 2.6 out of 5 in 5 reviews at Healthgrades. One of the two who gave him high marks commented “I didn't die after getting surgery so really nothing else matters”. Three patients rated him at 1 (low), one commenting rather interestingly “all he wants to do is talk about his blog”. Poor ratings across the board re him and his practice. Nope, he is not qualified to go so public on this. But many are doing so. Instant attention. Pass.

  4. Prior to the emergence of talk about remdesivir there seemed to be nothing other than the HCQ cocktail. But not everyone can tolerate that. There are potential heart issues with both the HCQ and the azithromycin. That would tend to explain the interest in a possible alternative med, especially if it could be used earlier in the disease’s stages. Again, I heard/read no hype that said remdesivir was the silver bullet.

Because of the unbelievable bias on CBS, the distortion of facts that is sometimes glaring, I neither watch nor listen to either their network channels/stations nor their local affiliates. Life’s too short...

  5. Agree 100% - what an upside down world.

  6. All meds have downsides, even aspirin.

My 4th child had open heart surgery when he was 5mos old. One of the medicines he was on had a side effect of destroying teeth. Yeah, I do read this stuff. Well, his entire set of teeth, top and bottom, had to be replaced in 2 stages because they would crumble from brushing.

Thing is, this medicine helped save his life.

    1. For what its worth, I know I am posting anonymously and take that for what it is, but if anyone that knows me and follows this site and other sites will recognize easily who it is. This may or may not have implications in current or future court cases. It is what is. I mean, seriously, I have been doing this on and off since newsgroups and message boards where the rage.

  7. People don't need to like Hoofnagle or take his word. We all can read the Lancet journal ourselves (hint: Remdesivir has no effect):
"Remdesivir in adults with severe COVID-19: a randomised, double-blind, placebo-controlled, multicentre trial

In this study of adult patients admitted to hospital for severe COVID-19, remdesivir was not associated with statistically significant clinical benefits. However, the numerical reduction in time to clinical improvement in those treated earlier requires confirmation in larger studies."

  8. Forget recriminations. It is time to get back to work.
Now that a viable treatment is available - albeit sadly underpublicized - a change of policy is in order.

Immunity and vaccination are too far away.

Quarantine the sick. Cure the sick. Protect the vulnerable.

Move on. Leave stupidity and dictators behind.

  9. For what it's worth, call me crazy, but for myself and several other people i know, who have had the Covid 19. high doses of Vit. C and Vit.D3 along with Lysine, and BHT. in conjugation with inhaling threw a neutralizer,( hydrogen peroxide) has completely destroyed Covid 19 in less than 5 days. All of us have tested negative since.
