BREAKING: Quelle Surprise! Brandon Van Grack Withdraws From Flynn Case

Techno Fog broke the news--well, that's where I found it. No reason given--and that's no surprise either. My guess is that his days are too full cooperating with Durham's investigation for him to spare any time on the Flynn case which, in any event, should soon be resolved:

  1. A number of pundits predicted this; the question now is will he resign from DOJ and try to spin it as a "protest" against "political interference" in the case.

    1. I don't think that's an issue. He'd be risking surefire indictment, IMO. He needs to stick around, be subject to DoJ rules, to make a deal. Again, IMO. He's in huge trouble and now would be a very bad time to pull any stunts with Barr/Durham.

    2. That makes all the sense in the world to me, although this movie's been so crazy from the start, pretty much nothing will surprise me anymore.

Boy, I sure hope that you are right about the cooperating.

  4. No doubt you will be updating based on this, but AP reports DOJ has formally dropped the Flynn case.

"The Justice Department said it had concluded that Flynn’s interview by the FBI was “untethered to, and unjustified by, the FBI’s counterintelligence investigation into Mr. Flynn” and that the interview on January 24, 2017 was “conducted without any legitimate investigative basis.”"

  6. MORE:

    >> The U.S. attorney reviewing the Flynn case, Jeff Jensen, recommended the move to Attorney General William Barr last week and formalized the recommendation in a document this week.

“Through the course of my review of General Flynn’s case, I concluded the proper and just course was to dismiss the case,” Jensen said in a statement. “I briefed Attorney General Barr on my findings, advised him on these conclusions, and he agreed.” <<

It's not just the Flynn case.

Van Grack is withdrawing as counsel for the Govt in other cases as well.

I wouldn't be surprised if that's it for Van Grack at the DOJ. <<

Techno Fog is likely correct: it appears Van Grack is done at DOJ; the only question is if he did so in "protest" or if he was fired.

    1. See my reply to your original comment. Van Grack will not likely be doing any grandstanding.
