Is Trump Derangement Syndrome A Killer?

It's an interesting question, and it's posed at the end of an article at Pajamas Media today. The article,

Remember Those Studies Linking Hydroxychloroquine to Higher Mortality? They Were Based on Possibly Bogus Data

was based on an expose in The Guardian that debunks the slew of recent stories that cited "scientific" studies purporting to prove that HCQ can kill you--so, for God's sake, don't take it! Remarkably, two of the leading medical journals in the world--The Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine--published articles that were co-authored by the CEO of the very dodgy sounding firm that was behind the "studies". Those journals have been compelled to issue "expressions of concern" (EOC) about what appears to be fake science appearing in their prestigious pages. Writes The Guardian:

A Guardian investigation can reveal the US-based company Surgisphere, whose handful of employees appear to include a science fiction writer and an adult-content model, has provided data for multiple studies on Covid-19 co-authored by its chief executive, but has so far failed to adequately explain its data or methodology.
Data it claims to have legitimately obtained from more than a thousand hospitals worldwide formed the basis of scientific articles that have led to changes in Covid-19 treatment policies in Latin American countries. It was also behind a decision by the WHO and research institutes around the world to halt trials of the controversial drug hydroxychloroquine.
Two of the world’s leading medical journals – the Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine – published studies based on Surgisphere data. The studies were co-authored by the firm’s chief executive, Sapan Desai.

That's some hoax! You'd be hard pressed to make it up, but hoaxes will happen when "scientific" journals don't do the most basic fact checking. The question is, why were those basic checks not done? After all, the whole crusade against HCQ was "absurd on its face," as PJ Media points out:

The notion that hydroxychloroquine was a deadly drug was absurd on its face considering it has been approved by the FDA for over sixty years in treating multiple diseases, meaning its side effects and risk factors have been well documented, and would likely have been accounted for in any legitimate study.
According to the Guardian’s investigation, Surgisphere’s employees “have little or no data or scientific background,” and one employee, whose title appeared to be “science editor” is actually “a science fiction author and fantasy artist.” ... The company’s chief executive [and co-author of those "studies"], Sapan Desai, has also been named in three medical malpractice lawsuits, unrelated to its database.
The war on chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine began almost immediately after Trump touted it as a potential gamechanger in the fight against the disease. ...
Success stories from coronavirus patients who recovered after being treated with the drug have also been widely ignored.

Did I mention a "derangement" syndrome? This is deranged--although we've become almost inured to it by now:

Despite the slew of positive results of the drug, a Democratic state lawmaker in Ohio moaned that Trump should be tried for “crimes against humanity” for touting the drug’s potential.
Reports instead repeatedly cited the aforementioned study as proof the drug was deadly. Following Trump’s revelation that he was taking the drug, Fox News Channel’s Neil Cavuto had an on-air rant claiming “If you are in a risky population here, and you are taking this as a preventative treatment…it will KILL you. I cannot stress enough. This will KILL you.”

But the really serious question is the one posed at the end:

How many people could have been treated with the drug had it not been for this possibly faulty data raising unjust alarm bells about it?

It's almost as if Trump haters don't care how many innocents suffer and even die, if the end justifying their derangement is Trump.

    Exactly.

    1. The famous quote, reported to us by Speer from his Führer (in early '45) goes:
"We may fail, but if we do, we'll take the world down with us, a World in Flames!"
With these riots, the Left is trying to scare Barr, to think that they're with Der Führer on this sort of thing.

(There's been a commercial table-top wargame, on the market for decades, known colloquially as "WIF", this standing for "World in Flames", this taken from the Speer quote.)

  2. The Deep State is getting desperate and they have embarked on a comprehensive strategy to stop Barr and DOJ investigations into Obama Administration corruption.

As is becoming obvious in the recent epidemic of riots, a lot of violence and destruction is occurring as a result of the deployment of paid instigators and destructive materials that have staged to various riot locations (bricks, flammables, and even weapons).

The use of various disinformation campaigns (such as noted in this post) is another of the tactics that they are employing to serious effect. Ditto for the lock-down overreaction and downstream impact on civil unrest and economic hardship.

And there will undoubtedly be other and newer tactics of ever-increasing severity as time goes on leading up to the Fall election.

Trump is getting pummeled from multiple directions and is receiving almost no help from Congress or his Executive Branch agencies. Only Grennell has distinguished himself as a fighter capable of scoring hits against the Deep State. Local police are in disarray and getting pummeled as well, so chaos will only increase.

Barr and Durham can't afford to stay on the sidelines much longer, or there won't be a country left to preserve the rule of law for.

Which is it? Are Barr/Durham investigating and causing desperation, or are they on the sidelines?

"Only Grennell has distinguished himself as a fighter"

Really? Declassification of a few transcripts is all it takes to keep you happy?

    2. Bravo, Mark...I never expected to see that stuff here. That internet forum meme that because they have not turned up on the 24 hour news with indictments, Durham and Barr are in hiding. Propaganda.

They're spitting a desperate gamble to intimidate him, or trying to get him into a rush-job (hoping that he blunders into costly errors).
They desperately hope that, if he only sees a choice between a risky rush-job, and backing off altogether, he'll choose the latter.
It's a low-percentage ploy for them, but it may well be their best card in a weak hand.

    4. Imagine a rummy game, where Barr already has a Dead Man's Hand.
They're trying to get him, to rush his discard to be either an "8", or a Bullet.

  3. Apparently this "Surgisphere" outfit claimed to have patient outcome data from hospitals in southern Africa which knowledgeable people knew was impossible, and therefore fabricated.

Essentially, these were third world hospitals with no first world electronic records capability (or compatibility) making collection and collation impossible.

There doesn't appear to be, any longer, media platforms which aren't tainted by partisan agendas. It's long been known that The Lancet and the NEJM had opinion-editorial partisan bias, but it hadn't invaded its research publication space. Now it has.

Decades of goodwill and professional respect can be flushed away in a heartbeat.

Isn't that amazing? Why should a that happen when the subject is a widely used, safe, effective medicine? To politicize that? What the hell sort of sick mindset is that?

These people are not motivated by improving people’s lives, they only care about controlling people and accumulating ever increasing control over people. They are totalitarian at heart no different than old line communists.

This is right on the money. It's bad in that history shows it's such a destructive phenomenon, but it's good in that we at least know what we're dealing with and have no reason or excuse to be fooled or surprised.

  6. The Lancet’s publication of this paper has hit the fan. Started a few days ago in scientific publications and just keeps rolling. The data provider, Surgisphere, is turning out to look very sketchy. Tiny company that says it has a huge database. You don’t need me - just read this:

A mysterious company’s coronavirus papers in top medical journals may be unraveling

The Lancet’s publicatiion of this study caused the WHO to stop its trials of HCQ for COVID-19. How many more have died because of that?

What's really disheartening is when a study comes out that shows efficacy and it's suppressed by social media. Example: https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.05.02.20080036v1.full.pdf This study evaluated the use of HCQ with and without Zinc. I've been following Dr. Seheult on YT with his Medcram updates on Covid. Update 71 which went into detail regarding this study was taken down within 2 days. Interestingly, YT recently decided to restore it and the handful of other HCQ updates they had taken down. Why the restoration? Possibly around the time PDT made threats about all the Social media shenanigans?

What was truly interesting was the doctor pointed out that study validates early use with Zinc(with HCQ) vs. HCQ alone was statistically significant in: Needing ICU 9.2 vs 15.7%, Ventilation 8 vs 16.5%, and death 13.1 vs. 22.8%.

What do those who lost a loved one think upon seeing real data/studies like this and wonder if it would have made difference?
What do those who fought so hard to obscure this data think about their actions? Do they sleep well at night thinking about those that HCQ+zinc early on could have saved maybe ~57% more people? (13.1%/22.8%)
    I no more words now...

    >What the hell sort of sick mindset is that?

    Other Strange Data:

    1. Studies being done without Zinc, where zinc is supposed to be key

    2. Sharyl Atkinson on the propaganda campaign against https://sharylattkisson.com/2020/05/a-tidy-takedown-of-media-matters-and-its-propaganda-about-hydroxycholoroquine/

    3. VA study that was touted, was not.

    4. Brazilian study that used higher doses of older version of drug, chloroquine, with known side effects.

    5. How Democratic Governors have made it hard to get. CA for example has a nasty warning. NY required given by a hospital, etc. Requiring it be given later after diagnosed, not early.

    https://naspa.us/resource/hydroxychloroquine-chloroquine-and-azithromycin/

    6. hydroxycholoroquine Helps supposedly when given early, but studies were with late treatment.

    7. Locally in So Ca, people were told unless get very sick, just stay home. No attempted treatment given.

  9. So what do we expect to find if we dig deeper?

Of course the shame to the Lancet should be everlasting, but do we believe the sci-fi writer and porn star just cooked up this idea to defraud the scientific and health communities in the middle of a pandemic?

Is this another case of hiring a law firm to hire an oppo firm to stand up a bogus research project?

    Will we ever know?

  10. The riots are proving to be an effective resistance tactic against Trump. Innocent people are dying (including police officers), cities are being devastated by arson and looting, the rule of law is under serious assault as many looters are being released without being charged, and public confidence in government is plunging to new lows.

There is strong evidence that Deep State power-players are exacerbating these riots with funding, instigators, and weaponizable materials. It will only get worse until Barr makes an example of some of these perpetrators.

Sometimes you have to move quickly on these things. You can't let the perfect be the enemy of the good. A few televised perp walks can do a lot of good quelling escalation and restoring public confidence.
