UPDATED: I Do Moderate All Comments

I disallowed a comment just now. That's not something I like to do and, in fact, I have done so only very rarely. This comment by a regular stated that named individuals "need to die" and "should be put down."

I don't have any real rules for moderating comments, but I'm not gonna allow those types of comments.

UPDATE: Thanks to everyone for the support. I'll say it again: I feel a real sense of obligation to those who take the time to comment--and whose contributions add so much.

21 comments:

  1. As you should.

We aren't the left and we don't stoop to their tactics.

  2. I could see such sentiments, if the commenter meant *only* specific perps, e.g. Brennan.

Otherwise, your decision is not only justified, but arguably vital.
I can easily wager, that (stealth) Lefties will try to frame Righty sites, by trying to post incitments toward violence.
If the Left ever again gets power, *you* could easily end up being prosecuted, for "abetting the perpetration of violence toward Awoken Ones".

    1. If the Dem's win in Nov (one man, one vote, one time) I don't think there will many prosecutions. Just a slew of "red flag" laws and administrative one way tickets to a "mental health" facility somewhere in the Great Basin.

We're looking, in my opinion, at the opening chapter of America's Great Leap Forward.

    2. Tom, I'm hoping to do a post a bit later that, while pointing out those totalitarian tendencies, will also highlight positive facts that the Lib-E hides. Those facts persuade me that there is likely to be a backlash against the loony Left.

    3. Their aim will be, to insure that such a backlash is sabotaged, like SparkleFarts almost pulled off in '09-'17.

  3. I enjoy this site. There’s a lot of expertise and experience here and it’s enjoyable to see things hashed out.

    1. That's part of why I dislike being put in the position of having to disallow a comment. aNanyMouse is right, however. I can't allow a blog to be a place for inciting to violence, or even appearing to incite.

  4. Violence, threats, intimidation and incarceration may change my behavior. Only well-reasoned opinions can persuade me to change my mind.

  5. Sounds like an easy call to make, even if it's a thing you don't like to do. Comments like that are all downside, zero upside.

There's nothing anyone does here that can't get done just fine without resorting to that.

  6. B Harold. I have been following this site since 2017. I found it to be so excellent that I went back and read every single post since its inception in 2007. So, THANK YOU, Mark for the person that you are.
Also thank you to Brad, Joe, Texas Dude, ANannymouse and Cassander for your insights and commentary. This is the most informed and professional conversation that I have found. I do not post, except to ask a question for clarification and only twice previously. I hope there are not invaders to this site, as the above commentors and Mark are all that are needed to keep this site clear and succinct. I don't want this site to end up like CTH. Thanks and best to you all. B. Harold.

  7. Good policy to have, Mark.

  8. Good. The most unattractive thing on internet forums is the venting of anger and raw emotion, with zero self-control, under the guise of anonymity. I call them Laptop Commandos. Angry, threatening persons with little else to contribute. Thank you for taking such good care of your site. You shouldn’t have to. We are guests here.

  9. Agree with the need to moderate, it’s unfortunate.

    Ponderings:

    1. What a coincidence DA’s pushed by Soros are letting out rioters same day, no charges, etc.

    2. Amazing how well organized antifa is. Encrypted radios (no cell phones to be tracked), 26 pages of signed instructions, medical teams, logistics, use of scouts, lawyers ready, etc.

    3. Minimization by the press of Antifa

    4. The constant use of the term “mostly peaceful “

    5. Ignoring of property damage by msm

    6. Ignoring of injuries, such as 60 secret service at Whitehouse

    7. Mattis, etc comparing Trump to Hitler

    1. Ray, if I may... Once you acknowledge the predominant media, e.g. NYT, WaPo, ABC, CBS, CNN, NBC, MSNBC, Twitter, FB, et al., are just a PR front for the Democratic party, isn't in the news reporting business, but rather is in The Narrative reinforcement business where inconvenient facts are ignored, you'll probably sleep better and won't have to take blood pressure medicine.

That such explains your seven ponderings becomes clear...

      Cheers.

  10. Thanks, B. Harold, for the nice comments.

Mr. Wauck brings expertise that I can't get elsewhere on a daily basis. Yes, there are others like Kevin Brock, but I only see them when they do a Hill or Fox commentary.

This is a fine group of commenters. Personally, I have better things to do than to name-call or engage in personal attacks.

I'd rather discuss, share my point of view and learn from others. Being a commenter here has helped me to better articulate my views, because it is hard to convey meaning when no one can see my facial expressions or hear the tone of my voice. I don't know if anyone else said this, but this place is an oasis in a desert of ignorance.

It’s been known to happen ;<)

  12. It’s hard for me to express my self without being verbose, even in person.

In relation to Mark, I had a bad experience with a Dallas FBI agent, but not too long after got recruited to join due to my technical background (yeah, I wrote software that wiped text from websites and drilled down their internal and external links amongst other things in Unix and Windows ... not bad for a university trained IBM mainframe COBOL/Assembler programmer).

Anyway, I was well after 40 and while enticing, I felt I would not cut it.

I like my role in life as municipal street cop.

For those that know, will recognize me.

I am real, concrete and just trying to make my way in life.

    1. I suspect you made the right choice. I loved my job, but it's a totally different organization than it used to be--as we're all seeing.

    2. Hey, since you were banned at Powerline, right? you may enjoy this:

      @shipwreckedcrew

I appreciate the link to my Rosenstein article by Powerline. I really like their site, and have read it going all the way back to Rathergate. It's just odd that they would link my article while at the same time having me banned in their comments. LOL

    3. Wow, you remember. Yeah, I was banned for severely and harshly slamming Paul M in ways I never did here. Maybe learning, maturation?

It’s their domain, no hard feelings. Thing is, after listening to you, Mark, and others, I actually started to pay attention to him. He seems to have made a complete 180.

      I, myself, am learning.

      Thanks.
