From Behind The Closed Doors

Sean Davis at The Federalist cites "sources familiar with the testimony" of George Kent, a top U.S. diplomat and expert on Ukraine, as evidence that not everything is going smoothly for Adam Schiff's Kangaroo Court. Of course, none of what goes on behind the closed Intel Committee doors is supposed to be public unless leaked by Schiff. For some reason Schiff didn't leak much of Kent's testimony--who would have been very knowledgeable about US dealings with Ukraine re Burisma, an energy company long accused of corrupt practices, and the controversial firing of a Ukrainian prosecutor. Fortunately, Davis' sources were more informative and are telling us that it was the Obama administration, not the "International Community," that orchestrated a Ukraine prosecutor’s firing. The prosecutor in question was Victor Shokin who, at the time he was fired, was investigating Burisma, which was paying then VP Joe Biden's son large amounts of money despite his apparent lack of qualifications. The significance of Kent's testimony is that it totally undercuts the claims of Biden's defenders. What Kent had to say yesterday

... directly contradicts claims that the Obama administration was merely following the lead of the so-called international community in demanding the firing of Viktor Shokin, a controversial Ukrainian prosecutor who was reportedly investigating Burisma, a global energy company long suspected of corruption and money laundering. In 2014, Burisma paid Hunter Biden, Joe Biden’s son, tens of thousands of dollars to sit on its board despite the younger Biden’s complete lack of expertise or professional experience running a multi-national oil and gas concern.
Kent told lawmakers on Tuesday that the Obama administration spearheaded the efforts to have Shokin removed from his position as the top federal prosecutor in Ukraine. Kent said the international community — namely the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and Western nations within the European Union — were deferential to U.S. directives on the matter.
...
Allies of Biden, who is currently vying for the Democratic presidential nomination, have defended the former vice president from charges of improperly taking official actions that could financially benefit his son by claiming that the international community, rather than Biden and the Obama administration, were behind the efforts to get rid of Shokin. Kent’s testimony, however, indicates it was Biden and the Obama administration who were running the show, not the so-called international community.
Kent also testified that concerns about corruption within Burisma, where Hunter Biden inexplicably served as a highly paid board member for five years, were openly voiced long before Trump became president.

Oh my! It sounds like the Obama administration pressured the "international community". How awful! The Dems demanded the testimony and they got it.

  1. I have to laugh every time I see well paid journalists & pundits saying or writing Pelosi won't call a vote because she doesn't have the votes or because she is trying to protect her vulnerable Members. It's not that those two points don't factor in at all but that it's so blindingly obvious the 800lb gorilla here is the need to control 1) what does and (even more important) what does not get found out, and 2) the leaks and the narrative that follow.

(I suppose technically they could have a vote that leaves the White House and Rs with no significant rights in the investigation, but that would be real hard to pass, and even the bootlicker media couldn’t get it to fly with the voters - at least I don’t think so.)

    1. True. I suspect she doesn't have the votes, but that's probably very much about the inability to control the facts, as you say.

    2. Can Adam Schiffless’s eyes pop even bigger without exploding? We know of his temper, barely controlled…

Kent turned out to be in the “be careful what you ask for” category...

  2. And I have to laugh when I hear that the Obama Administration was simply following the lead of the 'international community' in demanding the firing of Viktor Shokin.

The very same Obama Administration which, in the person of Victoria Nuland, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, said, oh so elegantly, in discussing with a colleague the need to consider the views of the European Community regarding another aspect of Ukrainian affairs:

    "Fuck the EU."

Well, maybe they were concerned about some other 'international community'...

The very same Victoria Nuland gives her valedictory to the U.S. - Ukraine Foundation in December 2013.

There are many many questions to be asked as we learn more and more about the Obama Administration's Ukraine 'policy'.

I will ask just one. The Democrats purport to abhor foreign interference in American affairs. Why are they not offended by our gross (and often catastrophic) interference in other countries' affairs?

For better or for worse (depending which side you're on) Trump is peeling back the onion.

I honestly don't think he can help himself. The train has left the station. Buckle up.

  3. In the 70s, there was a porno movie titled "Behind the Green Door."

As disgusting as I'm sure that movie is, what lies behind Pencil Neck's closed door is probably more offensive.

If this were going well for Schifty, he would be holding this for the whole world to see.
