Today, Sidney Powell has filed a Motion To Produce Newly Discovered Brady Evidence on behalf of Michael Flynn. Powell requested the legacy Team Mueller prosecutors for this newly discovered evidence on October 11, 2019, and was told, basically, don't call us, we'll call you--if WE think you should have it, we'll give it to you. Not good enough, said Powell, and filed a motion.
Here's what's so fascinating about this. Powell describes the evidence--two Blackberry devices that were utilized by Joseph Mifsud--as "newly discovered", as in: "evidence that has only recently come into [the government's] possession." Huh? The government only recently came into the possession of Blackberries that were used by Joseph Mifsud?
Here's what I think is going on.
Joseph Mifsud is a long running asset of Western intelligence services, working for MI6, the Italians, the CIA, and from time to time the FBI. We know that the FBI opened a Full CI investigation on Flynn as far back as 2014, and we're pretty darned sure that Mifsud was part of that investigation. Therefore, my guess--and I think I'm right--is that the FBI provided Mifsud with these Blackberry devices for use when he was working for the FBI, targeting Flynn and, later, Papadopoulos and, maybe, Carter Page outside the Continental US, i.e., in the UK. In other words, when Mifsud was engaged in "OCONUS lures," as famously stated in the Strzok/Page texts. That's pretty clearly what Powell thinks, since she writes this in her motion (pay attention to the highlighted portions):
Filing on the newly discovered evidence:— Techno Fog (@Techno_Fog) October 15, 2019
The 2 phones were used by Mifsud as part of the efforts by western intelligence against him "likely as early as 2014 to arrange . . . 'connections' with certain Russians" pic.twitter.com/ZMDAXB1Ytm
Note that Powell doesn't offer a line of reasoning to support a supposition about these devices. She's making bald statements of fact. She knows. And she also states as a fact that the FBI was setting Flynn up to make "false claims" against him of involvement with "the Russians."
The question, then, is this: how is it that "the government" only just now came into the possession of these Blackberry devices that it gave to Mifsud as far back as 2014?
A commenter on Techno Fog's twitter feed has a theory, and it makes some sense:
Sounds like Barr and Durham was given his phone during their recent trip to Italy.— Mark Hilgers (@hilgers_mark) October 15, 2019
Wasn't that helpful of Barr and Durham (if that's what happened)? They go to Italy, listen to Mifsud's tape of why he fears for his life (presumably he's afraid of one or all of MI6, CIA, FBI), accept custody of Mifsud's FBI-provided Blackberry devices, return with said evidence and helpfully provide it to Brandon van Grack--because it's relevant to the Flynn case. Imagine how grateful van Grack must be! I'll bet Barr and Durham had a good laugh over that one!
The only reason I can think of why van Grack didn't move to dismiss this case months ago is because ... well, how do you dismiss a case in which you've extracted a guilty plea without admitting misconduct on your own part? And also this: Maybe, just maybe, van Grack is desperately protecting other bad actors, with whom he might be considered a co-conspirator.
OK, now put all that in the context of Impeachment Theater. If, at some point in the next few months, the case against Flynn gets tossed for prosecutorial misconduct, how will that make impeachment look? I think the general public will see the connection, will put 2 + 2 together and come up with the right answer.
All this has to be very worrying for the Dems and for the Deep State.
What's that document ? that begins ...
ReplyDeleteFlynn recalls discussing the sanctions issue ...
That's from the Mueller Dossier.
DeleteI'm guessing that Mifsud was supposed to use one Blackberry to communicate with Flynn and the other Blackberry to communicate with the FBI.
ReplyDeleteApparently one phone was issued in 2011 and the other in 2014. The one from 2014 would almost certainly pertain to Flynn. The one from 2011 is harder to say, since Mifsud has a long history as an asset.
DeleteBin Laden was killed on May 2, 2011. Was Flynn accused of informing Russian Intelligence about that operation?
DeleteThe Wikipedia article about Flynn says that he was involved in Afghanistan until October 2010 and then began working for the Director of National Intelligence in September 2011.
The Wikipedia article thus has a gap in Flynn's assignments from October 2010 until September 2011.
The year 2014 was when Michael Flynn wrote his letter in support of FBI Special Agent Robyn Gritz in a sexual harassment case against Andrew McCabe.
DeleteNice. Payback.
DeleteIf the FBI gave these Blackberries to Mifsud, then that was a security blunder, because Mifsud was an agent of Russian Intelligence -- and the FBI knew he was!
ReplyDeleteRight--that's what Team Mueller wants us to believe. The reality, of course, is that Mifsud is a long time agent for various Western intel services.
DeleteGeorge Webb
ReplyDeleteWe told you Dmitri Alperovich of Crowdstrike configured the Blackberries for Mifsud, Millian, and Timofeev to recruit BOGACHEVA and Krylova for Fiona Hill and Andrea Chalupa to spy on Trump campaign in May 2016. Now Sydney Powell wants Mifsud’s Blackberry for the OCONUS lures
Yikes !!!!!!
Repeat: Yikes!!!! And even worse--Barr has 'em.
DeleteA commenter at The Conservative Treehouse suggested that Mifsud's blackberries were mentioned in the Horowitz IG report that was distributed for criticisms and security review recently.
ReplyDeleteThere could be some interesting angles in that, depending on whether Mifsud had continuing contacts.
DeleteYes, I saw that comment. It would be something Horowitz might investigate- whether or not Mifsud really was a Russian agent since the Papadopoulos narrative was cited as support for the FISA warrant on Carter Page. Barr and Durham might well have gotten the phones from Mifsud's lawyer Roh, and given them over to Horowitz for the finalization of his report.
DeleteAnd, of course, with the report circulating, any number of people might have informed Powell.
Of course, being a member of the Deep State means never having to say you're sorry.
ReplyDeleteThat may come yet--at sentencing.
DeleteI call that "The Reckoning."
DeleteAs commented previously, the UK, Italians, Ausies, and now Ukraine have all provided damning evidence to Barr/Durham regarding the coup against Trump and also the weaponization of DOJ/FBI/CIA and other Executive Branch agencies by the Obama Administration. It will soon revealed that Strzok was involved in the Mifsud dangle and hence knew about his status as an FBI OCONUS lure. As a member of the Mueller SC team, Strzok knew concretely that Mifsud was not a Russian operative and communicated that fact to them. That they then continued to misrepresent Mifsud as acting in service to Russian election interference is a clear and malicious deception in the Mueller Report.
ReplyDeleteSo, Mark, you think Mifsud was a Western intel asset?
ReplyDeleteHah! That would be news to FBI Director James Comey who on May 28, 2019 wrote:
"In April 2016, that adviser [Papadopoulos] talked to a Russian agent [Professor Mifsud] in London, learned that the Russians had obtained “dirt” on Hillary Clinton in the form of thousands of emails and that the Russians could assist the Trump campaign through the anonymous release of information damaging to Clinton. Of course, nobody from the Trump campaign told us [FBI] this (or about later Russian approaches); we had to learn it, months after the fact, from an allied ambassador [Downer]."

Comey's assertion is made in a Washington Post op-ed where he explains to the American public how virtuous he is, how hard he worked for us, how Mifsud was a Russian agent and how the 'president is a liar who doesn’t care what damage he does to vital institutions'.
And now it turns out Mifsud possessed FBI-issued Blackberries?
And Comey says he's a Russian agent? Like Comey didn't know Mifsud had FBI-issued Blackberries and was...working for him?
So who's the liar who doesn’t care what damage he does to vital institutions?
(PS - if we catch Comey in one premeditated, stone-cold, bold face, out and out, there is no other explanation lie, are we supposed to believe its the only one he's told since the day he told us no reasonable prosecutor would have brought a criminal case against Hillary Clinton?)
Imagine what you just laid out being used at trial to 1) establish a conspiracy to defraud and 2) to impeach. Devastating.
DeleteYup. Devastating. As far as I'm concerned its Game Over. Now let's see how the Washington DC version plays out.
DeleteCould this be James Comey's 'Alexander Butterfield' moment?
ReplyDeleteIts not a perfect analogy, but it could -- should -- be a huge turning point. Comey, like Nixon, has been caught out lying.
Fingers crossed.
I could never understand how anyone could sell Mifsud as a Russian asset. Long before I heard this narrative from Mueller, it was known that Mifsud was associated with Link University campus in Rome--a training/conference center for Western intelligence and security services. He also was associated with a similar outfit in London that Stefan Halper was associated (IIRC).
ReplyDeleteThe Mueller "explanation" means Mifsud had operated on the periphery of Western intelligence and security services for years/decades--a story far more scandalous than one meeting by Papa D.
No, that narrative never made any sense for anyone with the slightest knowledge of Mifsud's activities and contacts.
DeleteRight.
DeleteThe point being that one had to be following the unfolding of the Russia Hoax pretty closely (like we have been) to have seen the obvious lie about Mifsud. (Notice the more recent Weissmanian obfuscation in the Mueller Report where Mifsud is no longer described as a Russian agent but a person with 'connections to Russia'.)
My hope is that if Comey is caught in an incontrovertible lie the large number of misled Americans who haven't been following the story as closely as we have been will see the light. As in: James Comey has been lying to you.
My hopes aren't too high, though, because this will require the MSM to report the story and therein lies the rub.
But...sooner or later, the truth will out. The question, really, at this stage is after how much more pain?
"a person with 'connections to Russia'"
