UPDATED: NYTimes 'Outs' Ukraine-Call "Whistleblower" As CIA Officer

Per Zerohedge:

And sure enough, if The New York Times is to be believed, the complainant is a C.I.A. officer who was detailed to work at the White House at one point, according to three people familiar with his identity.
The man has since returned to the C.I.A., the people said.
The NYTimes, of course, puts its spin on the news, claiming that the whistle-blower's expertise will likely add to lawmakers' confidence about the merits of his complaint. However, given the current state of affairs, we suspect it will simply remind a deeply divided nation of the bias and prejudice that exists behind the President's back.

So the identity is known, at least to three people who leaked to the NYT.

Gina Haspel, watch your back.

UPDATE: CTH believes the CIA officer in question is one Michael Barry

The outlined profile, in combination with the political motive, have led many people to begin searching through: (1) current CIA operatives; (2) who come from the era of Brennan; and (3) were previously assigned to the White House (NSC); and (4) then removed; and (5) then returned to the CIA.  That profile has led to suspicions of identity.

A strong possibility for the identity, a person who checks all the boxes of known attributes, follows a trail to Michael Barry.

  1. Well, he's CIA, so surely his expertise includes minimum requirements for mind reading, and crystal ball gazing.

  2. If the Democrats hope to continue this, the witness does have to come forward and testify- you can't impeach without it, and I think even Schiff knows this.

I get the impression that the whistleblower is like Blasey Ford in the Kavanaugh hearings- got used to make a complaint thinking the people they were working with would protect their anonymity, but not realizing that the lawyers and the policians couldn't do much with an anonymous complaint, so they start the process of leaking the identity in degrees hoping to force the witness into public testimony. This witness is probably going to get crucified the same way Ford did.

  3. "...and I think even Schiff knows this".

I agree, but let me digress on the subject of Schiff.

    I watched his performance today.

Regardless of where this whistlblower complaint goes, I am totally done with Rep. Adam Schiff. His pompous grandstanding. His constant dissembling. His smears and obsessive hatred. His beady eyes. His arrogance. His smarminess. His extreme bias.

And this man is Chairman of the Intelligence Committee of the House of Representatives of the Congress of the United States.

Have I said I'm done with him? That's a polite (kind of) way of saying I have come to despise the man.

To the point where, if his brand of politics somehow prevails, and his team wins the 2020 election, it makes me want to channel my inner Barbra Streisand...and find some other place to go live my handful of remaining years.

His brand of politics is utterly odious. He mortifies me. We are at a real low. With the prospect of sinking lower.

Have I said I despise the man?

    1. If it comes to an impeachment trial, the GOPers can set the rules so that it's almost a foregone conclusion that Nadler and Schiff will be up there before the nation. I doubt that the impression left will improve on yours.
