UPDATED: Briefly Noted: It's All Over But The Whining--And The Military Occupation

FARCE: After the devastating video evidence of their hypocrisy yesterday the Dems obviously realized their faux impeachment had blown up in their faces. This morning the briefly tried a desperation tactic--changing the rules on the fly and calling at least one witness. Trump's team countered that they would then call at least two witnesses--Pelosi and Bowser. Woops! Dems folded like a cheap suit.

IN A RELATED DEVELOPMENT: According to representatives of the Zhou Baiden regime, its Imperial City on the Potomac will remain under military occupation indefinitely--possibly including active duty troops and reserves, in addition to the NG. No word on whether they'll be equipped now with crew served machine guns, as reportedly requested by top Dems:

WASHINGTON (FOX 5 DC) - An internal e-mail obtained by FOX 5 reveals members of the National Guard might still be in D.C. through the Fall of 2021.

The National Security Council is asking the Department of Defense to engage Capitol Police on planning for post-March 12th support, according to the e-mail.

There is a scheduled meeting for agencies to discuss on Wednesday, February 17th.

Robert Salesses who began Performing the Duties of the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Homeland Defense and Global Security on January 20, 202, wrote in the e-mail:

"If it’s not possible to sustain at the current level with NG personnel, we need to establish the number of NG personnel (DCNG and out-of-state) we can sustain for an extended period – at least through Fall 2021 – and understand additional options for providing DoD support, to include use of reserve personnel, as well as active component."

No timeline on when the US Capitol fence will come down

More than five weeks after the U.S. Capitol riot, the fence topped with razor wire creating a three-mile perimeter around the Capitol grounds is still in place and Capitol Police said Thursday there was no timeline to take it down.

...

FOX 5 reached out to D.C. National Guard for further comment and received the following statement:

"The National Guard is conducting prudent planning for the eventual end of the security mission and the return of its Soldiers and Airmen to their home stations."

This has to make us the laughingstock of the world. Home of the free?

UPDATE 1: This is interesting. Ted Lieu Drops Bomb About Why National Guard Is Still in DC. This is Lieu speaking to the Senate:

“’The election was not stolen.’ He still hasn’t said that sentence,” Lieu said. “That is why National Guard troops in full body armor still patrol outside.”

What was that he just said? If Trump were to state, “The election was not stolen,” from his media and online exile, then Americans could again have access to the property of the people? That sounds an awful lot like extortion.

Well, now that Trump knows that, I think we're guaranteed that he'll never say that one sentence. He's not gonna say something that's patently untrue, of course, but also--the optics of it all are so great! These people are nuts.

UPDATE 2: At least the GOP senators treated the proceeding with the dignity it deserved. Ted Cruz tweeted out some of the questions by GOP senators that didn't make judge/witness/juror Leahy's cut:

3/x Q1: “Where’s the short, fat guy?”

4/x Q2: “Can we build the Keystone Pipeline if we add Hunter Biden to the board?”

5/x Q3: “To Manager Swalwell: Tell us about Fang Fang.”

6/x Q4: “(generic) Have any of the House Managers had sexual relations with a Chinese communist spy?  Please explain.”6/x Q4: “(generic) Have any of the House Managers had sexual relations with a Chinese communist spy?  Please explain.”

7/x Q5: “If we put him in a burlap sack & throw him in the river, and he does not float, must we convict?”

  1. Junta, plain and simple.

The Dems caved on witnesses. Note the truly unserious attitude of the Senate.

  2. Jamie “It’s All About Me” Raskin is once again holding forth. Did they pass out complementary No Doz this morning.

How can someone who engages in and leads a group of House managers engaging in pushing so many legal and constitutional errors be a law professor anywhere?

    3. In Oregon during Covid the law school graduates no longer need to pass the bar exam in order to practice law. My daughter, a judicial assistant for a state circuit court judge confirmed this for me.

  4. NOT GUILTY! 57-43.

Seven Republicans — Senators Richard Burr of North Carolina, Bill Cassidy of Louisiana, Susan Collins of Maine, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, Mitt Romney of Utah, Ben Sasse of Nebraska and Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania — joined with Democrats in finding the former president guilty. Sixty-seven votes were needed to convict Mr. Trump.

    2. Honestly - how do these deep red states keep producing this tripe? Even Alaska and Utah I really don't get it.... We know what Collins is about.

    3. Apparently there is no way to legally 'recall' Romney. I'd like to see a petition demanding his resignation...from the Republican Party and from the Senate. He is an utter disgrace.

  5. Having voted to acquit former President Trump, McConnell is now taking his 10 minutes on the Senate floor to castigate former President Trump for what happened January 6. Sounding like a House manager.

    The mad tea party...

    1. Now McConnell is saying that former President Trump is "liable in a court of criminal justice for everything he did in office”. So he’s pushing more potential action against him.

    2. It'll be interesting to see what results. When was the last time someone in McConnell's position attacked the party leader in such demonstrably false terms and placed himself--on paper--in opposition to 42 out of 50? Will any senator speak out against him? What price will he pay?

    3. WTF is McConnell talking about? Criminal liability? TDS is a strange disease.

Channeling Bluto's call to arms in the great movie Animal House:

      McConnell: Dead Man

      Haley: Dead 'Man'.

      Romney: Dead Man.

      Sasse: Dead 'Man'.

      Burr: Dead Man.

      Cheney: Dead 'Man'.

      Cassidy: Dead Man.

I think they are done. They are certainly done in Donald Trump's party.

  6. If our side knew how to "resist" - there would be thousands of bodies surrounding the president to prevent him from any LEO action if it were to occur. And we would be streaming into DC by the millions, despite the enemy occupation, to incite THEM to something for a change - do not act, but do not get out of the way and do not bend.

But methinks we have a lot further to fall.

  7. So much for Biden's 'Unity' government. And he better fear a Trump majority in the House in 2022. What goes around...

    1. I remain convinced that by 22, Camel-A will be prez, and therefore racism and sexism will inoculate her from criticism. Hell, given the collective lack of cajones on our side, she may even be able to openly declare that all that wacism against her is literal insurrection. Our side is full of cowards who will happily zip their traps.

I guess we disagree about our side being 'full of cowards'. Fortunately, this is a sane place where disagreement seems to be tolerated.

  8. I'm not sure coward is the correct word, for some, probably, maybe?

I certainly would not drop that type of statement anonymously, it seems very hypocritical.

The right has issues with trading safety for security, me and my'isum, white knight, and it's someone else's job to save me, syndrome, I would call a lot of that "fear".

We've lost our legal system, voting system, free speech and hundreds of other drops in the bucket along the way. But it's still not loss enough for even a minority to stand up and say no more.

We have issues upon issues, It should be said aloud and frequently. But I couldn't throw a dart at what will finally push people over the edge enough to change it.

  9. Some interesting comments under the article re Vision a day or so ago.

Here`s a particularly bleak one, but describes the reality:

"The Oligarchy seems to have "evolved" itself in full view without enough people recognizing that it was being fed by Seymour in innocent ignorance until the carnivorous flower became a serious problem. All accompanied by catchy tunes and quirky characters... Think about it, hard. It's how a magician does his magic tricks. Distraction, skilled manipulation, and a completely separate intent than the audience.

    1. They have essentially erased 90% of the meaning of the Constitution. It's husk is largely just a framework for hanging various pretty, shiny ornaments.
    2. They have largely reshaped nearly 50% of the population's perceptions of reality by ownership of the mass media and academia.
    3. They have warped the perception of reality by implementing clearly insane social policy as normal activity. They advantage themselves using the instilled confusion caused by the massive assault of cognitively dissonant social constructs on normality.
    4. They have co-opted both sides of the political establishment using each of those groups' most highly prized "principles". With Conservatives/Libertarians it's business/free trade/money and with the various groups on the Left... sexual license, man as god apostasy, Marxist materialism, environmentalism, and result based egalitarianism couched as social justice. The stew has resulted in a fragmented and easily ruled mass of disparate tribal groups.
    5. They have instituted without portfolio or question the rapidly growing seeds of a surveillance culture no different than the NKVD, Gestapo, or STASI, as neighbors, friends, and relatives (all useful idiots in the grander scheme) being used as agents, enforcers, and influencers. The walls have eyes, ears, and a memory.
    6. They have arranged to remove capital and control of capital means of creation into a narrow band of financial pools controlled by the Oligarchs. They have further confused the issue by mostly remaining in the shadows, barely seen, and rarely working beyond their Commissars and other Minions. The residual wealth is being rapidly dried up and exchanged for social currency/credit.
    7. Their model is the Modern Chinese Communist State (actually Fascist) and they have made common cause with the Heavenly Mandate of the Belt and Road.

They have now successfully crashed the shambling hooptie that was the suicidal vestiges of Western Civilization. The New World Order... well... it's imperative is, after all - ORDER. The only choice will be to rebuild, and that's not going to be until enough of the 'awake' have had enough of the 'order' and choose to do something about it. -OAB"

  10. Without Trump, there is nothing for the politicians and the propaganda media to talk about. Because everything else is just farce, and more than half of the population knows it.

  11. Remember the Schumer shutdown Jan 2018? President Trump cancels Pelosi's government airplane. It is my contention that the country has endured two impeachments, finger wagging and tearing up State of the Union speech over Nancy being Po'ed over a cancelled govt paid vacation during a shutdown.

    1. This is a small (but appreciated) step in the right direction. The right needs to begin outing and doxxing. The right needs to stop doing business with anybody who identifies as being on the left. Legal fire with fire has to be part of the solution. There must be financial consequences inflicted for wokethink. We need a nationwide one-stop clearing house website--built on conservative-owned platforms--so conservatives can know which businesses to avoid patronizing. This is awful to contemplate and I am livid that the left has brought us to this pass, but long experience has shown that we can no longer bring a knife to a gun fight. We outnumber them, but we've shunned the most effective tactics... theirs. Where's the conservative SLPC? Where's the conservative Sleeping Giants? Why do conservatives remain on Twitter, YouTube, FaceBook, et al?

If the past year hasn't convinced conservatives that we're losing badly and that we need to get down and dirty, then I shudder to think what it would take.
