UPDATED: Follow The Emails--Ain't No Science, Just Politics: Should Be A HUGE Story

While the WaPo and NYT are having to walk back seriously non-factual allegations they've made against Trump associates in recent days, the NYPost is showing some real initiative and real reporting. The paper reveals, in what should be a huge story:

Powerful teachers union influenced CDC on school reopenings, emails show

Wow! Emails obtained via Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuits--isn't that, like, actual documentary evidence, rather than anonymous sources who make it up?

This should be a huge story--just about the most partisan political union in the country appears to have been dictating to CDC and the Zhou regime that now occupies the White House what the science should be said to be

And what a surprise! The American Federation of Teachers--representation on behalf of parents and students is not welcome--wanted the science to say that teachers should be required to, well, not go to school. Don't you love how science works? It turns out that, once government gets involved, it's a bit like making sausage.

Excerpt--but do read it all. GOPers are totally insane if they don't go ballistic with this:

The American Federation of Teachers lobbied the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on, and even suggested language for, the federal agency’s school-reopening guidance released in February.

The powerful teachers union’s full-court press preceded the federal agency putting the brakes on a full re-opening of in-person classrooms, emails between top CDC, AFT and White House officials show.

The emails were obtained through a Freedom of Information Act request by the conservative watchdog group Americans for Public Trust and provided to The Post.

The documents show a flurry of activity between CDC Director Dr. Rochelle Walensky, her top advisors and union officials — with Biden brass being looped in at the White House — in the days before the highly-anticipated Feb. 12 announcement on school-reopening guidelines.

A full court press by "teachers" to keep schools closed but teachers paid--what a concept!

The lobbying paid off. In at least two instances, language “suggestions” offered by the union were adopted nearly verbatim into the final text of the CDC document.

With the CDC preparing to write that schools could provide in-person instruction regardless of community spread of the virus, Trautner argued for the inclusion of a line reading “In the event of high community-transmission results from a new variant of SARS-CoV-2, a new update of these guidelines may be necessary.” That language appeared on page 22 of the final CDC guidance.

The AFT also demanded special remote work concessions for teachers “who have documented high-risk conditions or who are at increased risk for … COVID-19,” and that similar arrangements should extend to “staff who have a household member” with similar risks. A lengthy provision for that made it into the text of the final guidance.

Even Jake Tapper smelled a rat:

In a widely viewed CNN interview on Feb 14, anchor Jake Tapper grilled Walensky and demanded to know why the guidelines would allow schools in areas with high coronavirus community spread — know as “red zones” — to opt out of in-person reopening, noting that 99% of US kids fell within those areas, according to a CNN analysis.

“Can you point to any scientific reason for students in the United States not to return to in person classes tomorrow?” Tapper demanded several times.

“If you’re in middle school or high school we would advocate for virtual learning for that group … We really don’t want to bring community disease into the classroom,” Walensky replied, repeatedly refusing to offer a scientific explanation for the reopening avoidance. ...

Dr. Monica Gandhi, a professor of medicine at the University of California, San Francisco who has written extensively on coronavirus, called the CDC-AFT emails “very, very troubling,”

“What seems strange to me here is there would be this very intimate back and forth including phone calls where this political group gets to help formulate scientific guidance for our major public health organization in the United State,” Gandhi told The Post. “This is not how science-based guidelines should work or be put together.”

The close communication between the union and the feds came despite repeated assurances from CDC and Biden officials that the medical guidelines would “follow the science” and be free of political interference.

UPDATE: Oh, boy! Monica Showalter is all over this one:

CDC becomes a chew toy for the teachers' unions

Showalter doesn't say this, but her lengthy article is a perfect illustration of why government employee unions are inherently corrupt and corrupting.

  1. IMO, teacher unions are the primary source of systemic racism and gun violence. If it wasn't for them, school choice would have been accepted long ago. They know what happens to poor black kids in failing schools, and refuse to allow them choice, which would enable them to get an education and get out of that environment, and break the cycle.

  2. Somewhat O/T, but on "the science", Denninger today gives links to journal papers which, he claims, shows experts charging, as far back as Dec., that the "S" (spike) protein *alone* (as used in the Covid vaccine) causes lung clotting.
The 4 Dec. paper was by a large group of researchers, some from the Salk Institute.
He then gives quotes/ links, to similar papers of 8 March (by a group of Chinese, in the Journal of Hematology & Oncology) and 27 April (done at Old Dominion U.)
    See .

    1. Yes, over the last several weeks I've seen more and more references to studies like that--dating to late 2020 and focusing on the possibility that the spike protein itself could be a big problem. This research was ongoing and out there. Lots of scientists would know that that angle was serious and being pursued--not a secret in that world.

    2. Lots of scientists would also know to shut their mouth or be cancelled. On account of "the science" you know.

  3. I actually heard from my cousin's girlfriend's brother's best friend that the 'supposed' e-mails were, in fact, found on Ferris's - I mean Hunter's - laptop, so you know...Russian disinformation!

  4. I'm reminded here of the 5+ million employees/civil servants/military, unions, NGOs and contractors that make up (frolic around) our government and why voting has become overall irrelevant.

Nice chew toy analogy, that hit the nail!!! lol
