John Nolte On Calls To Blackout The POTUS

"America’s increasingly unstable and dangerous establishment media are calling for a full blackout of President Trump’s daily corona virus press conferences.
"Think about that for a moment.
"For the first time since World War II, for the first time in nearly 80 years, Americans have no idea what their country will look like a year from now, and the corporate media want to impose a full blackout on the daily briefings the American president is making to the American people.
"There’s a lot of jokes out there about the hypocrisy of how this demand is coming from the same media that had a tantrum over the White House canceling the daily press briefings. But this time we’re talking about something so much more than hypocrisy.
"We are currently in the middle of global pandemic, a state of siege that, in just two weeks, has shut down our economy and locked many of us up in our homes, either by government decree of just plain old fear.
"In a time of national crisis, the left-wing fascists in the media want to use their corporate monopoly to put a stop to the president of the United States communicating directly with the American people who elected him."

Clearly the crisis we face is not just a pandemic health crisis. Our constitutional order itself is under siege by the Deep State.

  1. Translation:

The Press's scaremongering is not working, Trump is coming off as a war time President taking action, the Elite's in the CDC and FDA, the Press, and Democratic Politicians, are discrediting themselves.

    Action must be taken!

  2. This effort is futile. President Trump will be re-elected in 2020 anyway, so the mass media might as well broadcast his press conferences.

    1. I suspect you're right, Mike. It does smell of desperation.

  3. The only kick I’ve seen about the updates by the President and the Task Force has been that the media and their gotcha questions should be omitted. Take up time; add nothing. Just more anti-Trumping. I vote for that.

    1. Check out my new comment @ I BACK OFF. Amy Klobuchar's 52 year old husband is in bad shape. Despite classic symptoms he waited till he was coughing up blood before he got a test.

    2. If someone was in that bad condition, why would they not go to hospital anyway? They’d have done it before COVID-19. No test required. Serious lung illness takes one to hospital, pronto… Surely positive tests aren’t the litmus test for hospital admission? Symptoms are...

    3. Update on Amy Klobuchar’s husband at NYT gave brief mention of his illness and cited her decision to not be tested - even though she had been close to him - because she wouldn’t want to use a test that someone else needed. Thus Amy, bucking for gold star, could be a spreader… Politicians are forever...

    4. Seems incredibly irresponsible to me.

    5. Maybe Amy and her husband don't often get within 6 feet of each other. Wouldn't surprise me...

      Just kidding.

But Mark is right about her irresponsibility. If she is a spreader, or comes down with it, she'll surely regret her gold star.

  4. Regarding lockup in your home.

Not enough police to enforce. Next step state/US military.

There are plenty of people relishing this moment.

    1. I went for my usual walk this morning. I saw only one dog-walker. I usually see multiple dog walkers. People are self enforcing.

But read Rebecca Grant about 1918. Social distancing was enforced by the police in some major cities.

I'm not advocating for that, just offering perspective. History, history, history ...

There's a reason why this site is called "meaning in history." :-)

    2. We live in a relatively flat, relatively quiet single-family home residential area with a minimum of through streets. The good news is that plenty of people are out walking (notwithstanding there being plenty of snow still on the ground where we live) at all times of day and waving from a (hopefully) safe distance. It's kinda nice.

  5. I don’t know of anyone who is relishing this moment. There are scofflaws and cynics on the internet forums who vow they will never stay in, insist they will continue to go to restaurants (where? ours are all closed) And the rest of the chest-thumping, bloviating rubbish that laptop commandos put out, day after day, ad nauseum, ad infinitum. Most want this to be over. I remain hopeful that it will, and soon. Yes, history is a great teacher…

Police have broken up some “gatherings”. Meanwhile churches are streaming live video of their services on the internet.

My kids still walk their dogs, doing so when the sidewalks are not apt to be crowded.

As for crowds, we drove the 210 Freeway into Pasadena yesterday. You could have skateboarded - there were so few cars going either west or east. On a Sunday.

    1. "Relishing" refers to those in power who want to take advantage of the situation.

The current stimulus impasse comes to mind.

Mostly, people are doing what is needed. That's what we do.

  6. Nolte's article is a little too much hair-on-fire for my taste. I almost stopped reading before arriving the substance of who was making the "blackout the briefings" suggestion. Such information should be at the top of the article--not more than halfway down.

The suggestion itself is merely one more piece of evidence--well, desperation--media's only remaining influence is via outrage and sensation. Their credibility and integrity having long since flushed away.

Nolte should be laughing at these clowns, not pulling his hair out. If the so-called majors stopped covering the daily briefings, no doubt other enterprising-motivated organizations would step in the fill the void. And that's where most people would go to view the briefing.

As they keep conforming for me, the prog-left media lacks any self-awareness. But you knew that.
