Deep State Debacle In DC?

No doubt the Deep State thought they had a really excellent plan for their very own domestic Color Revolution--call it the Orange Man Coup. But things started to go wrong before midnight on Election Day, when the mind-blowing tidal wave of support for Trump forced the realization that truly drastic measures would be needed to install the basement dwelling Biden Inc. "Big Guy" in the White House.  Multiple anomalies in state after state all pointed to a massive fiddle, and--despite the assurances of disgraced former AG Bluto Barr--We The People just weren't buying that the election had gone according to Hoyle. Even now, two months later, some number approaching half the population believes the election was a hoax or a fraud, and if you add in those who think a major inquiry is warranted your break the 50% mark. Meanwhile, despite the Deep State's best efforts to mount Trump on a rail and run him out of DC, his approval ratings are doing just fine, thank you. Nothing seems to be going quite according to plan.

Meanwhile, the 74 millions who turned out for Trump--not satisfied with simply mailing it in--have continued to follow the events, angry at what they've learned. The realization of what went down has led to a situation that Shipwreckedcrew discusses:

on the famous--but fraudulent--HCQ "study" that was the basis for one more spasm of Trump Derangement Syndrome in the MSM. The claim was that Trump was recommending a medicine--HCQ--that could kill you, as Neil Cavuto hysterically proclaimed. Mind you, HCQ is one of the most widely used medications in the world today and has been approved by the FDA as safe for over 60 years. That might have been considered to be a clue, by the peer reviewers at most most scientific journals. Nevertheless, the "study" was published by two of the most prestigious "peer reviewed" medical journals in the world: The Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine.

It turned out that the "study" was based on the authority of a Sci-Fi writer and a porn model. Which really makes you wonder about how "peer review" is done at these storied "medical" journals.

Just as delicious, the expose was done by the far Left The Guardian, which wrote:

A peer-reviewed Lancet study claimed that Surgisphere culled data from nearly 15,000 COVID-19 patients from 1,200 hospitals around the world. There is no evidence that it collected any data from anyone.

The other night Tucker Carlson interviewed Dr. Marc Siegal about the fraudulent HCQ "study" as well as about a story I saw coming out of Italy earlier in the week. I can't provide the scientific details, but Siegal says the reports have been seconded by sources in the US, as well. The idea is that the Sars COV-2 virus is "weakening"--good news that the news media doesn't seem to want to get out to widely. According to Siegal, this development is fairly typical for viruses:

Pelosi's Call To The Ramparts

Earlier this evening I wrote referring to Nancy Pelosi's bizarre impeachment address:

Joel Pollak at Breitbart has an excellent article debunking the central Dem claim that their impeachment theater is a revolt against a president who claims the powers of an absolute monarch--a sort of We The People against George III Redux. That was the tenor of Pelosi's bizarre address, and it came up repeatedly in the Nadler committee testimony by law professors. 

Frank Miele has written a wonderful article that deconstructs that meme in more detail. What Miele writes is more profound than the title might suggest, so don't be tempted to pass it by as just one more "coup" article: Speaker Pelosi Declares a Coup Against President Trump.

Just as the Dems have ripped Trump's words out of context, so too they now rip the words of the Declaration of Independence out of context. Pelosi speaks of "dissolv[ing] ... political bonds," as if the declaration was merely referring to resistance to a distant monarch. But the the Declaration actually speaks of something fundamentally different:

When in the Course of human events, it becomes necessary for one people to dissolve the political bands which have connected them with another, and to assume among the powers of the earth, the separate and equal station to which the Laws of Nature and of Nature's God entitle them, a decent respect to the opinions of mankind requires that they should declare the causes which impel them to the separation.

Viewed in this context, Pelosi's words are ominous. Miele begins with that in mind. Excerpt:

Hope--And Fear--In This Impeachment Season!

Impeachment is in the air--or so we're being told. I remain skeptical. Let's review the reasons for hope for the republic, and then the reasons for fear.

Hope: Bill Barr's Recent Travels

Bill Barr is a major reason for hope, for a number of reasons. Here's a video in which Tony Shaffer explains that Barr's travels with John Durham to Western European capitals is a sign that their investigation into the Russia Hoax coup attempt is proceeding at a "furious pace." What's also interesting about Barr's trip to Rome and London is that it was done without leaks in the media and, especially, without informing the Department of State or--as far as we can tell--any other of what would ordinarily be considered to be agencies with relevant expertise and concerns. I mean the FBI and CIA, both of which have major presences in both London and Rome that handle Foreign Police and Foreign Intelligence Cooperation. Clearly Barr knows the lay of the land, knows whom he can trust and whom he cannot.

What did Barr and Durham discuss in these foreign climes? Well, we don't know--and that's part of the point. It's pretty clear from that fact that Barr and Durham are surrounded by a very tight lipped and disciplined cadre. They are running quite the efficient operation.

How worrying is all this to the Deep State and ruling elites? Very worrying. Because, while they may have inklings of what Barr is up to behind the scenes, count on it--they don't know nearly as much as they'd like to know. And then, hard on the heels of Barr's return from these very worrying jaunts, we got one of those very rare leaks from Barr's DoJ: Durham's investigation, we were told, was expanding to include the early months of the Trump administration, including the time period during which the Mueller Witchhunt was ramped up by Rod Rosenstein and Andy McCabe. That was a leak that sent a message to the entire political class of Washington, D. C.

Civil War 2.0?

During the past week I've discussed several articles that, from various perspectives focus on the totalitarian animating spirit behind liberalism. Daniel Greenfield, for example, in The Disturbing Reason Why the Dems Really Want to Impeach Trump, sees the goal of liberals now as delegitimating not only Trump but anyone who would support him. That, mutatis mutandi, will lead to the legitimation of crushing all opposition to whatever the liberal agenda happens to be at any given moment. A one party state. When we see the repeated enactments of speech codes and even thought codes, the transformation of educational institutions into little more than indoctrination camps, the use of big tech to censor dissenting views--who can doubt the ultimate goal? And like any totalitarianism, this "diversity" inspired totalitarianism will allow for no dissent--not in speech, not in lifestyle. They will find ways to come and find you and force your conformity--like forcing Catholic hospitals to perform abortions. We've had previews of the liberal future. This is what inspires the hatred for Trump and for his supporters. Liberals thought they were on the verge of total victory. And so this inspires the impeachment mania.  Here's a nice video featuring Lou Dobbs and Stuart Varney that hits on the same themes, although in less dire form:

Via Zerohedge, Jim Kunstler offers a provocative view: Civil War On. I skip over the first half to get to what I view as the heart of his argument, which is that the Ukraine Hoax amounts to a full scale coup attempt by the Deep State. Before you say never, consider--isn't this, in effect what Greenfield, Gary Morson in Leninthink, and as sober a voice as Lou Dobbs are suggesting? The overthrow of a duly elected administration by subversion, through the fraud and deceit of our intelligence agencies?

"Closest We've Ever Come To A Coup In This Country"

That's what Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy told Maria Bartiromo this morning. McCarthy used all the right buzz words about "accountability" and how it "should" happen and so forth. Still, he did project a confidence at key moments that seemed to me to reflect insider knowledge. For example, the first time Maria started to challenge him on "accountability" and Barr's committment, McCarthy interrupted with a one word answer: "Yes!" All this came in the final segment of the interview:

McCarthy: We came the closest ever to this country having a coup ... 

McCarthy: I respect this Attorney General so greatly ... he believes in accountability but, more importantly, he believes in the rule of law. 

Bartiromo: Does he believe in accountability really? I mean ... 

McCarthy: Yes! 

Bartiromo: So far, anything about Jim Comey, he's getting off ... 

McCarthy: In the end, I do not believe Jim Comey will get off. America sees that the President was correct about firing this individual. How worse would it have been if this man were still in his job today? What he was doing, what he was saying? What's even worse is the Democratic Party wants McCabe to come to a fund raiser! That's absurd! 

Bartiromo: A lot of people point to the CIA being one of the masterminds. John Brennan. Are we gonna see John Brennan come back and answer some questions? 

McCarthy: Anyone who has had any association with trying to create this coup should be held accountable. I just had a conversation with Lindsey Graham. I know he'll bring individuals back into his committee ... and I give all trust with, in, Attorney General Barr that he is doing what is right. He'll take it wherever the evidence and facts lead him. 

Bartiromo: You said this is the closest thing to a coup--that's unbelievable! Both sides of the aisle should be outraged by that! 

McCarthy: Just go back to what the texts said. During the campaign when they were concerned that President Trump at the time a candidate could win--"Don't worry, we have an insurance policy." And now we're finding all that insurance policy out. Those people should be held accountable, because no one who ever runs for president should have to go through that again.
