Did The Russia Hoax Go All The Way Up To Obama?

I'll keep this brief. I've never made any secret of my belief that in any bureaucratic setting nobody takes a risky action without some notion that somebody else has their back. Or, to put it another way, without some notion that they'll be able to shift the blame. Like so much in bureaucracies, this defies reality--in this case gravity. Despite best efforts, blame for prosecutable events gets shifted upward, rather than settling downward, because everyone has something on the next person above them.

With that in mind, read what John Solomon had to say on that score to Maria Bartiromo. The transcript at TGP made some important mistakes and omitted some important, though brief, portions. I've corrected that:

Maria Bartiromo: How far up the ladder do you believe this entrapment went in the Obama administration?

John Solomon: Most counter intelligence investigations are always briefed to the president. I would love to see the PDBs [President's Daily Briefs] of President Obama be released, anything having to do with Russia going back to the summer of 2015. I believe that's the most important time frame to begin looking at. It’s impossible that John Brennan didn't know about most of the key activities. And it's obvious that the Attorney General would have to know, working with the FBI. So, far more senior officials than the names we've been talking about. We keep talking about Strzok, and Page, and Priestap. There's another layer here that's escaped scrutiny and questioning. Hopefully, after the IG report comes out we'll get some of those answers.

Tonight Hannity had Andy McCarthy on, along with Sara Carter. Quite frankly, McCarthy shocked me. I never thought that Andy would get this far out in front of the news. But he "went there." Here's the partial transcript--Andrew McCarthy: Counter Intelligence Investigations Are Done for the President -- Obama KNEW:

Sean Hannity: Does that mean Obama had to know? 

Andrew McCarthy: Sean, what I’m saying is not that the president sits there and directs that there be counter-intelligence investigations. What I’m saying is that, unlike criminal investigations, counter intelligence investigations are done for the president. The only reason to do them is to inform the president with the information he needs to protect the United States from foreign threats. They’re not like criminal investigations in that regard. So, in principle, the information from a counterintelligence investigation is for the president. And here we know at various junctures, we have actual factual information, that this investigation was well known to president Obama. 

Sean Hannity: So, if he knew, and this is all happening, he had to know about it from the get-go. Doesn’t that also imply that he would have been updated on this? If he’s the one that needs it for national security decision making? 

Andrew McCarthy: Sean, if things were working properly the president should have been alerted about it and informed. It was a very important investigation. If they actually believed what they were telling the court that it was a possibility that Donald Trump was actually a plant of the Kremlin, it would have been derelict on their part not to keep the president informed.

In Impeachment Madness I pointed out for the second time that

Barr has bigger fish to fry than the texting duo of Strzok and Page--and one of those fish is named Barack Obama.

That observation was based on Bill Barr's revelation, a week ago, that what has grabbed his personal attention in the Russia Hoax is the January 6, 2017, Trump Tower meeting:

According to Hemmer, the one specific example that Barr kept returning to was the Trump Tower meeting on January 6, 2017, between disgraced former FBI Director James Comey and Trump, when Comey tried to blackmail, er, when Comey briefed the President Elect about the salacious claims of the Steele "dossier". Weirdly, all those salacious claims appeared in the press within days of the meeting.

And, not at all coincidentally, that meeting came the very day after a White House summit or council of war was held against the president elect--a meeting that featuring the top level of the outgoing Obama administration and the key holdovers. To reprise:
