I'll give a link to FR (wink, wink), and you can go from there to Twitchy if you want:
BAM! Carter Page files $75 million lawsuit against James Comey, Andrew McCabe, Lisa Page, and others
Page is being represented by Leslie McAdoo Gordon, with whom you'll be familiar. Perhaps as significant as this announcement is this:
Yep.

One of two big projects I'm working on. Second one drops in January. https://t.co/UVX0Lx1W24
For details on the lawsuit, consult Margot Cleveland.
I'll say that after reading Ms. Cleveland's piece that the perpetrators will need more book deals if they can get them to pay legal fees and fines. Hopefully Mr. Page's attorneys will hold nothing back when going after these once powerful thugs for the misery they inflicted; not just on Mr. Page but upon the nation.

I suspect we taxpayers will pay for the defense
DeleteSee Cassander's comment below--Page is alleging that the bad behavior re FISA was in fact a criminal offense. That may make a difference in whether the federal government is allowed to pay for their defense--even under Biden. The rules are more complicated than I can recite off the top of my head, but don't suspect things until you look up the rules.
DeleteFrom Margot Cleveland: "In addition to stating a civil claim for damages under FISA, Page’s attorneys note in the complaint that FISA makes it a criminal offense to illegally “engage in electronic surveillance under color of law.” While only the government can prosecute a criminal violation of FISA, the allegation is a stark reminder that other than Clinesmith, no criminal cases have resulted from the illegal targeting of Page and the Trump campaign—at least not yet."
ReplyDeleteHello?
It didn't take 'Bob' Mueller and Andrew Weissmann very long to launch criminal prosecutions against Flynn, Papadopoulos, and Stone. Of course they had the benefit of not caring whether a crime had been actually committed.
Weissman and Mueller also had the virtually unlimited resources of the State. God help any of us shoule we find ourselves in the crosshairs of a corrupt prosecutor:jail or bankruptcy is just about guaranteed.
Delete@Dave
DeleteYes.
But so do Barr and Durham (have the virtually unlimited resources of the State).
With the advantage of presumably not being corrupt.
At the end of the day, it seems that the private sector is saving the country. While Durham is still doing whatever Durham is doing real accountability will probably come from a civil lawsuit like this. Hitting them where it hurts the most, their pocketbook. The private sector is doing more to pull us through covid than any bureaucrat with their worthless mandates and it'll probably be private lawyers like powell wood and the amistad project that will right the fraud that is being called the election. I think my new worldview in 2021 will be that the state will never be able to overcome the ingenuity and creativity of the American citizenry.
ReplyDeleteBut isn't that the epitome of our American system? We need a great reset alright, but not globally. We need it right here in our country. The right people with serious virtue and intellect need to lead our country. The citizens need to soberly and carefully clean house and take back our self-governance.
DeleteThe state will *never* be able to overcome the ingenuity and creativity of the American citizenry?
DeleteAlas, I won't bet on that, esp. given how many of these Lefties are driven, by hate of the White Patriarchy.
I was kind of surprised that he was not asking for more in this given the gravity of it and players involved.
ReplyDeleteBut I'm also guessing compensation and then would punitive also apply?
Getting 100% of the proceeds of the book deals the criminals are getting for the fame their crimes granted them would be a good start.
DeleteI wonder if the other project is Flynn's suit against the same miscreants.
ReplyDeleteAre Page, Strozk, et al liable for their own legal fees? Or does Uncle Sugar pick up the tab?
ReplyDeleteNot a lawyer, but I'm thinking that is part of the reason of the "color of law" blurb.
Delete"However, the immunity conferred by FELRTCA does not extend or apply to suits against federal employees for violation of the Constitution or federal statutes."

Thanks, Tom.
DeleteI wonder if some statute of limitations is a factor in the decision to initiate this lawsuit.
ReplyDeleteI just checked the docket. No judge has been assigned yet. Fingers crossed it won't be Sullivan.
