This morning we reported bombshell statements by Joe DiGenova--IG Horowitz's FISA investigation has already concluded that the three extensions of the original FISA warrant were "illegal," and he's now seeking to determine whether the original application was illegal. The release of DoS official Kathleen Kavalec's notes (here), which DiGenova says were hidden from Horowitz by the FBI, shed dramatic new light on the original application.
DiGenova is confident that indictments will result. I believe that's inevitable, too. Beyond that, however, I believe that anyone who touched any of those FISA applications is, essentially, radioactive. Even if criminal charges cannot be sustained against all of them--and there are many who were involved--their positions at the DoJ and FBI may well prove untenable because of varying degrees of culpability--failure to carry out their duties, lack of candor, etc. My hope is that this will facilitate Barr's necessary house cleaning at both institutions.
I love DiGenova, but I just wish any of his predictions would prove true.
ReplyDeleteOn Apr 24 he claimed a "bombshell" report on Comey "will be out in 2 weeks".
Well, he's only two days off, right? So far. I'd like to see that, too.
DeleteWhen the IG report comes out, it's going to be very interesting. What a summer!
ReplyDeleteI just have a feeling of momentum building. Hope that's not just me.
