I seem to be doing Twitter updates. In this powerful monologue Tucker Carlson raises important questions. He's not optimistic. He points out that, agree or disagree with those who believe this election was a fraud, a fake, a hoax, if you love the country you do what you can do persuade them. You don't just deride a huge percentage of your fellow countrymen. You, well, for example, you enforce the election laws, you allow observers the same way every other civilized country does--instead of allowing one party and one party only to block observers. You do audits. Instead, what Tucker sees coming is more attempts by the Establishment to simply make people shut up, to silence dissenting voices--from the POTUS on down. That, he says, will not restore the trust that is the basis of any legitimate government. None of this will end well. And it's their fault, not ours:

Jesse Kelly agrees that the DC Establishment is on a reckless path:
Why do I think we’re doomed for separation or war?
— Jesse Kelly (@JesseKellyDC) January 7, 2021
I actually see people talking about impeaching Trump today. I cannot think of a single act that would do more to blow the powder keg of America.
And the DC pundit-class thinks it’s a solution to the problem.
And here's a colorful way of expressing that idea:
They are using a flame thrower on a fire and telling you they are trying to put it out https://t.co/AFSNrVaZPH

UPDATE 1: Tucker says we should be asking how we got to this point. It's a good idea, and some are offering the answers--not that we don't all know these things already, and have for a long time. Stealing elections is what the Left has always aimed for. If we're supposed to view BLM riots within a context of history and of past injustice, maybe the frustrations of non-Progs at what they see going down in our elections is a context that needs to be taken into account?

Maybe it was a bad idea to change how we ran a presidential election more or less without democratic input, between consent decrees and lawfare, COVID shift to mail-ins, and Zuck/oligarch process engineering, who could have predicted this would lead to people rejecting results

It is a touchstone of American constitutional law that nothing protects your right to shout “fire!” in a crowded theater. But what about yelling “fire!” in a crowded Congress? Democrats and the media have sounded the alarm that a planned challenge to electoral votes in Congress this week appears to be what Chuck Todd has called constitutional “arson” and Jake Tapper has called an attempted “bloodless coup.”It is neither. Such rhetoric is disconnected from reality. Moreover, it also distracts us from critical constitutional issues. Ironically, the challenge is occurring rather close to the anniversary of the oral argument in Charles Schenck versus United States, the case in which Supreme Court Justice Oliver Wendell Holmes famously wrote that the First Amendment does not protect “falsely shouting ‘fire’ in a theatre and causing a panic.”...The words of Todd, Tapper, and others seem designed to cause panic in an otherwise fireproof system. These individuals brush over the fact that Democrats have raised similar challenges against Republican presidents, with no cries about constitutional “arson” from members of Congress or the media. Indeed, some of those engaging in this rhetoric praised past challenges by Democrats in Congress.

... just exactly what is the character of Donald Trump? He has shown great perception of the defects of our political order; he has had many salutary achievements in office; he has fought hard for worthy objects against the intransigent opposition of the permanent government and the partisan media; his love of country is undoubted; he has given new hope to many unheard and hitherto unrespected Americans.
Having been a visitor to the Capitol and House and Senate office building many times over the years as security has steadily increased, I am stunned at the apparent collapse of the Capitol police in the face of infiltrators. The Wall Street Journal reports that the Capitol police were “unprepared.” This is strange, and unacceptable. One wonders ...

Winning isn’t enough, they have to try and rub our noses in the fact. Even the gentlest of dogs will eventually turn on you if continually beaten.
ReplyDeleteI’m pretty sure that I know where the real Kracken resides and it’s not in Sidney Powell’s evidence files. They should probably reflect on that for a moment.
A (likely GOP) Congressman was just on Laura, urging DJT to attend a Biden inaugural, in the interests of nat'l unity.
DeleteEither way, they'll never stop rubbing our noses into anything.
It's what they live for.
Sow the wind and reap the whirlwind.
ReplyDeleteThese old sayings are still around for a reason...they're true.
Buckle up, there's turbulence ahead.
What's going on now, this overheated costume party being put on by these scoundrel senators, on every channel--when did this ever happen before?--is an attempt on the part of the Deep State to destroy Trump as a political force. That's the end game of Romney, Paul, Graham et. al. They are all kissing the ring.
ReplyDeleteRomney got rough treatment on his plane ride. I expect him to retire or become what he is, a democrat.
DeleteHe'll probable declare as an Independent and try to caucus with the D's. They'll need somebody to fetch coffee and tidy up the men's room while they "negotiate" surrender terms with Xi.
DeleteTom S.
And this, from the president of MIT, a global warming fanatic and all around moral imbecile:
ReplyDelete"Today's events in Washington shocked us all. The pain reminded us sharply of how much we value those democratic traditions – and of how fragile they are. They demand our respect, protection and care. They demand the best of us. We did not see the best of America in the attack on the Capitol today. I trust that we may in the days ahead."
The attack on the capitol. Has a ring to it.
This photo disturbed me when I saw it and even worse after the news that Ashli Babbitt, the Air Force veteran from San Diego, had been shot while in a very closely packed group in an small anteroom having something to do with Nancy Pelosi (I forget the exact name) just outside the House Chamber. One report by an eyewitness said Ashli Babbitt was poking her cell phone through a window when she was shot. Not trying to climb through a window. Could it have been this window, where obviously edgy men had their weapons drawn and trained on the window but couldn’t see what or who was on the other side? Is it possible that one of them had an itchy finger that caused him to shoot when a hand with a cellphone came through that window? Will we find out? The only LE officer shown anywhere near her after the shooting was armed with a long weapon, not a hand gun. He probably came later. The person I thought was LE, standing next to where she fell, was shown in another video to be not LE. So, could it have been this window and one of these guys, who were inside the House chamber?
ReplyDeletehttps://img.theepochtimes.com/assets/uploads/2021/01/06/gun-drawn-closeup-700x420.jpg
Very interesting. Not long ago I saw a video showing her on the back of someone and in the opening of the apparently broken window. The video was from her back. It wasn't clear that she was actually trying to climb through, so the idea that she was trying to film through the window is plausible. After all, climbing over jagged glass? There were quite a few police behind her, but they didn't seem to be making an effort to pull her down.
DeleteNow this photo is from the other side--or so it seems to me. LE is normally taught not to draw a weapon and point it unless you believe you have a potential reason to use it--to defend yourself or others. Somebody needs to find out the reasoning behind these guys pointing loaded weapons at the demonstrators and then shooting one. It was a difficult situation, no doubt, but there were plenty of heavily armed police on the other side, not just demonstrators.
Wrong window. I found the video that I believe is the one you saw. The glass is clear, a panel in a door into a hallway. No grillework or covering. But where is the person who shot her in the chest or neck?
Deletehttps://nypost.com/2021/01/06/video-shows-moment-ashli-babbit-was-fatally-shot-in-capitol/
Looked at the NYPost video again. There were at least four dark figures standing in doorways, moving a bit, in that hallway beyond the glass doors in front of which she was shot. Her shooter must have been one of them.
Deletehttps://redstate.com/nick-arama/2021/01/06/305725-n305725
DeleteThis is pretty clear she was climbing through one of the smashed windows.
Tom S.
"where is the person who shot her in the chest or neck?"
DeleteYou're right, and that's exactly what I was puzzling over. I was wondering whether the shooter was somehow hidden from view, because looking down the hallway through the glass doors I couldn't see anyone.
I don't see how that shooting was justified. She wasn't a threat that I could discern.
DeleteI think there needs to be a murder trial to figure this out.
DeleteThere will be no trial since a Dem (Pelosi's police) murdered an unarmed woman. But I wonder how murdering an unarmed woman will sit with 75 million Trump supporters.
DeleteI had to drag the little dot down the line to slow the video action. That’s when I noticed what appeared to be black figures in doorways. Then my trusty magnifying glass helped. And I realized that black figures moved. The video was not focused on that distant area so they just sailed by at regular speed.
DeleteNo one else was in a position to shoot her in the chest.
Fear is a terrible thing. And those who are easily panicked should never have weapons. She was very obviously a woman. And not very big. Loose longish, rather full hair (at first I thought she might be black with dyed hair). No wrapping around her head.. Very, very sad. A waste.
I had an impression of muzzle blast/debris visible in the center door window, coming from the left side from behind the barricade that had been thrown up to keep the doors from opening, apparently. Could be wrong the video is not real sharp at that point. It appears part of the door is blocking the shooter from the camera.
DeleteWhat has me stumped is the idea that LE would use that line of fire when there were at least a half dozen LE behind her on this side of the door. Amazingly poor training if true.
Tom S.
Tom S, she may have been thinking about climbing through one of those glass door panels, but she never got that far. Otherwise she’d have collapsed in the opening. She was hit while being hoisted up and fell backward.
DeleteLooking again first figure on left seems to tense, for lack of a better word, just as shot goes off. Still shooting basically towards other LE on this side of door.
DeleteTom S.
Capital police, that man will be promoted, not tried.
DeleteAnd yes I believe it was one of the 4 with pistols drawn inside the chambers, firing through the door window, into the hallway.
Looked again. Her hair was long, brown. Shiny. At :41, she is at the highest point in being lifted into the window. Stopped at that point, and with the help of a magnifying glass, you can see that there is a person standing in what looks like an open door at the far end of the hallway, legs spread. Near them, partially hidden behind the door frame to their left, is another person. Another can be seen in a doorway near the door where the protesters are - left side of hallway. They all appear as black silhouettes.
DeleteThe last video I have seen clearly shows Babbit jumping into the window frame as if she was going to enter the area beyond the closed doors. She was shot almost immediately. I don't see how she could have been an immediate threat but it is hard to say what those officers saw or the threat they were reacting to. Who was in the area they were defending? Did they not see the riot police in the hallway with the intruders? I wouldn't be surprised if they try to claim an accidental discharge. The photo of the three officers behind the barricaded door with their weapons drawn was disconcerting. Are they trained to shoot unlawful intruders? There is no way of knowing what information they were receiving from other officers around the capitol. One thing for sure it was chaotic and a lot of officers were being assaulted. The problem with pulling your gun when there is no apparent immediate threat to life is there is no fallback. You either use it or lose it.
DeleteVery true.
DeleteHere is the story behind the photo I posted up this thread at 9:53 PM last night:
Deletehttps://www.breitbart.com/border/2021/01/06/exclusive-new-u-s-rep-former-texas-sheriff-defends-our-sacred-hall-with-capitol-police/
That guy is on very shaky legal ground. He's also a nut: 'Violence is NEVER the answer.' And yet he's pointing a (presumably) loaded weapon at someone who's in no position to harm him? He's not in his home, he's not LE. Don't anyone here try that.
DeleteMark, if you mean “that guy” to be the former Texas sheriff (the man in the blue shirt), he was not carrying a weapon. In the article he said that he broke the leg off a table as something he could use to protect himself. The men in the suits were said to be plain clothes Capitol police.
DeleteMy impression regarding position of shooter in my 11:02 comment is bourn out, not that it does Ms. Babbitt any good.
DeleteShooter moved out of doorway to close the distance to less than 6 ft shot, what used to be considered point-blank, while she was in an awkward off-balance position. Then moved back into doorway. No reasonable person could construe her as a threat. I remember talking to him about the Barrow gang, they robbed a couple of banks in our part of Tx, right after the movie "Bonnie & Clyde came out. His take, "Having a d**k and a gun doesn't make you a man."
From what I glean from the Uniprop organs today it's all good, she wasn't black so her life didn't really matter anyway.
Tom S.
And he fired more than one shot, Tom S.
DeleteI’ve posted a closeup video of him actually shooting her down the thread.
Unarmed Ashli Babbitt was murdered. Not going through that dangerous glass pane with large sharp shards. Just hiked up so that she could put her cell phone through the glass pane, according to a witness.

ReplyDelete"Trump Oppo Research Courtesy of the CCP"
ReplyDeleteQuite detailed info on how CCP advised the Bidens how to win 2020.
"In this context, it is noteworthy that several communications sent to Hunter by Jiaqi Bao include Chinese opposition research materials targeting President Trump and specific strategic and tactical advice on how to defeat President Trump in the 2020 elections. As unfathomable as this is, what we have here is a textbook example of complete compromise: Chinese intelligence is controlling a would-be US president through financial incentives, bribes, and honey potting his son and this has been going on for over three years yet not a peep from the DOJ or the IC. Where are all of the patriotic intelligence community leakers?"
What happened to worries about foreign interference?
Scrolling down, there are a number of articles on Bidens.
"The picture that emerges from these composites is of a family that resemble a pack of ravenous wolves; cold blooded, calculated, and manipulative predators on an expedition of lies, abuse and binges of vice."
text from Hunter to Devon:
“Every great family is persecuted in the US-you are part of a great family-not a side show not deserted by them even in your darkest moments. Thats the way Biden’s are different and you are a Biden. It’s the price of power. And the people questioning you truly have none whereas you do through the perseverance and poise.”

ReplyDeleteMuch is being made of Pence and Pelosi making the call to bring in NG to remove serfs from the Capitol, as in Trump being "bypassed" or some such. I am pretty sure the President can not send troops to the Capitol, legally. I think it is a separation of powers kinda thing. I believe troops can only enter by request/permission of President of the Senate/Speaker of the House. Same reason they have their own police force, D.C. police have no jurisdiction in the Capitol. That's the way I remember it.
Also using this to throw shade on Trump saying he called for NG. Two different conversations. One for inside Capitol: one for outside.
Tom S.
The President of the Senate and the Speaker of the House, by requesting the National Guard, would be giving permission. The Pentagon via delegation of authority from the President of the United States (who is the only one who can call out the DC National Guard) actually ordered the NG to the Capitol. I’m not sure the NG went inside the Capitol building or just took over outside.
ReplyDeleteThe average person hasn’t a clue about that National Guard, especially special circumstances re the DC National Guard.
Now I know why AG Bill Barr left town early.
ReplyDeleteThis screams of the same type smear that Nancy Pelosi did after the signing of Obamacare. My guess is the not enough security was deliberate, along with leaving the door open. The Wall Street Journal reports that the Capitol police were “unprepared.”

CFP has videos showing Capitol police opening up barricades and allowing demonstrators through. Obviously more to see here, more complicated. Other videos show Cap police taking selfies inside with demonstrators. Some may have been out of hand, the rest "mostly peaceful."
ReplyDeleteCapital police are a joke. Think back hown they reacted to the Awans. They had a right to look into that incident but rolled over to both parties. Totally worthless thugs.
