COVID19: NY Deaths, US Funding Of Chinese Gain Of Function Madness

Two interesting articles. The first reports that New York has been less than transparent in reporting nursing home and adult care residence deaths. We all know by now how horrible the situation of those facilities has been in Blue States like NY in which the governors forced nursing homes to take Covid19 patients: the disease swept through those facilities like the Grim Reaper. Now it turns out that in NY, if you caught Covid19 in a nursing home but died in a hospital then that death didn't go down as a nursing home death. In other words, the carnage in nursing homes and adult care residences has been even worse than thought:

The second article provides detail on US funding--courtesy of Anthony Fauci--of Chinese "gain of function" bat virus research at their now notorious Wuhan lab. "Gain of function" means, making viruses more dangerous in one way or another--more deadly, more infectious, etc. This type of research was banned in the US in 2014 due to biosafety concerns at our own labs. Fauci was among the those doctors and scientists who thought this type of research was fun--they would claim that it could serve to help develop vaccines. At any rate, Fauci's solution for the US ban on GOF research or tinkering with viruses was to outsource the work to the tune of $3.7 million dollars to China--with all its known biosafety issues at their research labs. Not to put too fine a point on it, Fauci paid China to develop Covid19 and export it to the world. Unless you're one of those terminally naive people who are convinced that the Wuhan virus is a natural development.

    This goes beyond the Kungflue.

    Just as Obama actualized the sublime power he was given and had no real American affinity, China is actualizing the power we, the US, have given them over decades.

    We, whether by design or by accident, are our own destructor and many cling to that end.

    Something from American Thinker today (5.27.20):

    President Trump just took the power to slow-walk vaccines out of the hands of Dr. Anthony Fauci, head of NIAID (one of the institutes of the NIH). When the first COVID-19 vaccine, the Inovio vaccine, was ready for clinical testing, Fauci buried it in a year-long Phase 1 clinical trial which began in April 2020 and is not scheduled to end until April 2021. (Fortunately, Fauci never got control over Bill Gates’s Moderna vaccine, which is making rapid progress, having already completed its Phase 1 clinical trial.)

      Thanks, very interesting. To be honest, I didn't pay much attention to Trump's action because I was more interested in the antibody testing development.

      Meant to include this. from the same article An artful way to move Fauci out of the way without firing him:

      Just three days earlier at a Senate hearing, Fauci had reiterated his claim that no vaccine could possibly be completed in less than a year to 18 months, even though in an earlier interview with Samantha Guthrie on the Today show Fauci had admitted that the coming Operation Warp Speed could get a vaccine out sooner.

      Operation Warp Speed is a totally brilliant political move by Trump. He put a “can-do” leader in charge of vaccines, and “can’t-do” Fauci can’t object. Trump’s primary goal is to open up the economy ASAP. Firing Fauci would have hurt that effort. Trump has figured out how to neutralize Fauci’s obstructions without firing him.

      As for the antibody testing, isn’t it getting mixed reviews re its accuracy?

      I mis-wrote. I didn't mean antibody testing but rather the development of synthetic antibodies that can be injected.
